ORDINANCE NO. 2295
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE TO REPEAL ARTICLE 3 OF
CHAPTER V RELATED TO RENTAL OF RESIDENTIAL DWELLINGS AND
UNITS, AND THE LICENSING THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that it no longer wishes to fund
or administer the licensing and inspection of residential dwellings as provided for in
Article 3 of Chapter V of the City Code; and
WHEREAS, nothing herein shall be construed as limiting the City’s right to
enforce any and all other City regulations that are applicable to residential dwellings used
as rental units, including the City Code, the International Property Maintenance Code,
International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Fire Code,
International Electrical Code, and International Plumbing Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY
OF THE CITY OF DE SOTO, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. That Article 3 of Chapter V of the Code of the City of De Soto,
Kansas is hereby repealed, as are the Ordinances which implemented Article 3
(Ordinances 2160 and 2258).
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its adoption by the City
Council, approval by the Mayor and publication in the City’s official newspaper, and all
provisions of the Code inconsistent herewith are repealed.
ADOPTED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF DE SOTO,
KANSAS AND APPROVED BY THE MAYOR ON THE 6TH DAY OF OCTOBER,
2011.
