FECC in a nutshell
Company Members
National Associations
FECC is the voice of the Chemical Distribution Industry
in Europe. With a growing membership of Company and
National Association Members, FECC represents over
1,200 companies of which many are small and medium
sized companies (SME’s). These companies have an
annual sales leverage of approximately 30 billion euros
and employ more than 40,000 people, while supplying
over 1 million downstream users.
By encouraging innovation, giving input to new policies,
promoting safety, health and environmental initiatives
such as Responsible Care, Product Stewardship
and Good trade and Distribution Practice, FECC is
recognised as the discussion partner for all stakeholders
that truly does give the Chemical Distribution sector a
voice that is heard.
FECC is actively involved in the EU decision-making
process, contributing constructively to the debate in
order to ensure that the specific needs of the chemical
distributors are taken into account. FECC is also
represented at international level through ICCTA, the
International Council of Chemical Trade Associations.
FECC regularly organises workshops, seminars and
meetings on important topics, while the annual FECC
Congress is the most relevant event for Chemical
Distributors in Europe.
FECC is particularly active in the following areas:

• Transport and Security issues
• Quality requirements for the supply to the
Pharmaceutical, Food, Feed and Cosmetic sectors
• International trade of chemicals, Security of
Explosives and Drug precursors
• Globally Harmonised System of Classification and
Labeling of Chemicals (GHS)
• The Seveso Directive
• Safety & Quality Assessment System (SQAS) including
the European Single Assessment Document (ESAD)
FECC and the European Chemical Distribution are
represented at the European Commission High Level
Group on the competitiveness of the Chemical Industry.
This initiative has been established to shape future
policies for the European Chemical Industry in order to
enhance its competitiveness.

FECC Working Committees
Leading industry experts contribute to FECC work and the
promotion of best practices in the chemical distribution sector.
GOOD TRADE & DISTRIBUTION PRACTICE
The GTDP Cttee is focused on the development of best
practices for the supply to the pharmaceutical, food, feed
and cosmetic sectors. FECC assists Members to comply
with WHO’s GTDP standards for pharmaceutical starting
materials.
INTERNATIONAL TRADE – RUSSIA ROUND TABLE
The International Trade Cttee deals with issues related to
export and import of chemicals from non-EU countries.
Currently, the Cttee focuses on trade relations with Russia.
LOGISTICS
The Logistics Cttee focuses on European and international
legislation concerning the safe transport and handling of
chemicals as well as related security issues. This Cttee
includes a sub-group dealing with trade controls such as
Drug or Explosive Precursors.
PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP
The PS Cttee brings together representatives of chemical
distributors and producers to promote a better cooperation
and implementation of PS along the supply chain. The aim is
to develop and coordinate common initiatives on HSE
matters.
RESPONSIBLE CARE
Responsible Care is the voluntary commitment of the
chemical industry to continuous improvement in Health,
Safety and Environmental performance. The European
Single Assessment Document (SQAS Distributor / ESAD)
is a single system to evaluate the quality, safety and
environmental performance of chemical distributors and
provides a third party assessment of chemical distributors’
commitment to RC.
SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT
The SHE Cttee is the expert Cttee concerning the
implementation of REACH. The Cttee also deals with other
issues such as safety, occupational health, environmental
protection, Seveso, GHS, etc.
