Several years ago Crystal found herself in the
middle of repeated domestic violence episodes. After
finally leaving the situation, she found not only herself
struggling with the effects of the violence, but her
children struggling as well.
Crystal and her family turned to Youthville’s Family
Consultation Service (FCS) and began family and
individual counseling. While one of her children had a
harder time than the others, Crystal found the therapy to
be extremely helpful for her family.
“Our family therapist came to our house and she felt like
part of our family,” said Crystal. “It wasn’t like talking
to someone you don’t know. She came once a week and
would ask us what we needed. It really helped.”
As a result, Crystal says they all worked on the things
they needed to in an effort to get their lives back to
where they needed to be. She says it has helped them
sleep easier at night. Crystal recommends anyone in a
similar situation give counseling a try.
“If you find one therapist that doesn’t work, there are
many others,” said Crystal. “We went through a few to
find the right one, but when you do find the right one,
it works and it helps.”
