A fond farewell…
Diana & I will be moving away from the parish on 20 th February. We
have found a small house in Baughurst. Now that Diana has been
granted ill-health retirement we both hope this move will help her find
a new quality of life, and that life in the wilds of Hampshire will be a
blessing for us both. It will certainly be a much shorter journey to my
‘day job’ than at present – 9 rather than 25 miles!
We will be truly sorry to say goodbye but after a lot of prayer and
reflection we both feel that this is part of the Lord’s plan for our lives.
Thank you all for your prayers and support. I will not cut contact with
OLoP totally as I will be helping Fr. Anthony in several ways.

USING YOUR GIFTS & TALENTS – EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS & SERVERS
New Eucharistic Ministers – especially for 11am and 5pm Masses
At 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 th February there will be a training session for new
Eucharistic Ministers. Please think about whether God is calling you to be there.
There is a form in the Advent Room for you to volunteer.
New Altar Servers at 5pm Mass
You do not have to be a youngster to serve – maybe you served Mass in your
younger days and would like the privilege of serving again – well now is your
chance! There is a list in the Advent Room for you to volunteer. And don’t worry,
training will be available.
ALL Eucharistic Ministers
At 9.30am on Saturday 3 rd March there will be a morning retreat and reflection for
all old and new Ministers. This will start with Mass and be followed by a session of
Spiritual Guidance and a re-cap on the practical side of being a Eucharist Minister.
It is important that ALL ministers make the effort to attend the retreat as part of
their commitment of being a minister.
With Hearts and Minds - thank you to all those who came for the first session, which
sadly did not proceed: due to the storm, the Sisters had a car accident in Basingstoke
on their way to us, so never got as far as Reading. Thank God they were unhurt, and
we have now rescheduled the first session for this Thursday 1 st February, here in
our church - so still time for you to join! See yellow leaflets in Advent Room

Confirmation 2007: Next Saturday in the hall, 34 young people from the parish begin their preparation for
the Sacrament of Confirmation which we will celebrate as a Pastoral Area on Tuesday 10 th July. The session
will last from 1.00 - 4.30pm and lunch will be provided. All parents are asked to come into the hall at 4.30pm
to meet the team & receive further details about the programme. Please could you all keep our young people,
their families, & the leaders who have volunteered to 'travel' with them, in your prayers. May the next six
months be a time of great growth, enjoyment, discovery & fulfilment for them, and for us as a parish
