From Pulpit to Bedside Seminar
VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care
Our 6th Annual From Pulpit to Bedside Seminar,
for pastoral and spiritual care providers and allied
professionals, is offered during National Pastoral Care
Week (pastoralcareweek.org).
Why do we offer this seminar
n Many religious professionals and lay pastoral
visitors have rich ritual traditions at the time of
dying and death, but lack a personal comfort
level in being with the dying or their grieving
loved ones.
n Surveys indicate that dying persons want their
religious leaders to provide spiritual support,
but clergy and lay pastoral caregivers report
they are unsure what to say during conversations
with the dying and the bereaved.
n Ministry to the dying can deplete a care providers
own spiritual and personal resources.
