Alumni Night was held in the evening. Before the Carroll vs. Bellbrook football game, the Carroll band marched down the field playing the Fight Song and Alma Mater, along with the alumni band members and alumni Liberty Belles. Then, the 2010 Inductees of the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame were announced. Pictured to the right are Ted Fecke ’73 and Sharon Schneider Becker ’69. After the game, @100 alumni met in the cafeteria for the Alumni Social and enjoyed tasty appetizers, beverages, music, and tours of the school. A special thank you to Mike Lofino ’65 for donating veggie trays from Lofino’s Food Stores. Once again this year an exciting wing-tasting contest was held. Alumni voted for their favorite wings from Clancy’s Tavern, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wings Zone, Filling Station Sports Bar & Grill, Frickers, and Beef O’Brady’s. Clancy’s was voted in as the winner for the second year in a row! Thanks to committee members Sue Sheetz Graham ’76, Myrna Fisher Gazzerro ’81, Jeannie Heid McManus ’66, Ken Belcher ’70, Chris Youngerman ’79, Marcia Balsom Cox ’79, Mary Sammons Jobe ’81, and Toni Hemmert Weitz ’86. Thanks also to the Class of 1970 and others who volunteered that evening. DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI HALL OF FAME Held on a Saturday in September in conjunction with Alumni Weekend On Saturday, September 11, 2010, the third Induction to the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame occurred. The evening was once again a first-rate event producing wonderful memories of exceptional faculty and an excellent education at Carroll High School. Six alumni from the classes of 1967 through 1986 were honored, along with the second recipient of the “Honorary Patriot” award: Fr. Victor Ries, the first principal of Carroll High School. Two former Hall of Fame recipients emceed the event: JP Nauseef ’84 and Dr. Greg Notestine ’71. JP and Greg are pictured to the right along with committee chairperson Amy Sableski Wittmann ’88.
232 people attended the ceremony. Many of the attendees were friends, family and classmates of the inductees as well as former and current faculty. In picture 1 above (left to right) is Rita Kroger, Sr. Louanna Orth (formerly known as Sr. John Martha), Tom Clark ’65, and Fr. Stanley Neiheisel (former principal 1968-1974). Jack Glaser ’69 and Ted Fecke ’73 are in picture 2. Amy Sableski Wittmann ’88 and Sharon Schneider Becker ’69 are in picture 3. The 2010 inductees are pictured below. In row 1 (left to right) are the following: Sharon Schneider Becker ’69, Steve Ries (representing his deceased uncle, Honorary Patriot Fr. Victor Ries), Charlie Middleton ’65 (also representing and speaking on behalf of Fr. Ries), and Julie Thurman Thorner ‘81. In row 2 (left to right) are the following: Mike Milord ’67, Jack Glaser ’69, Michael Gaines ’86, and Ted Fecke ’73. As each of the honorees were inducted, the emcees declared, “Your fellow alumni, the administration, faculty, staff, and students of Carroll High School want it to be known that you are distinguished in our midst and shall evermore be remembered as a member of this honored Hall of Fame in which you are recognized, and held up as an example of what it means to be a Carroll High School Alum, a true Patriot for Life, and an example of the ideals of church, family, country, community, and service. Be it so known. Be you so honored.” Thanks to chairperson Amy Sableski Wittmann ’88 and awards committee members who work to showcase the pride, talent, energy, professionalism, leadership, service, sacrifice, and faith of those who walk through Carroll High School’s doors.
