ALUMNI IRISH FISH FRY
Held annually on the Friday closest to St. Patrick’s Day
The 25 th annual Alumni Irish Fish Fry was held on Friday, March 19,
2010 from 6 p.m. to midnight. Approximately 830 people attended –
our best year in attendance since 2003! Everyone left raving about
the delicious baked
and fried Icelandic
Cod cooked for the
second year by the
Fecke and Keller
families, as well as
the new addition of
rice and beans.

of Irish Dance. A

of $18,946, with total profit of $8,397.
FAMILY EASTER EGG HUNT
Held annually on Holy Saturday
Carroll’s 4 th annual Family Easter Egg Hunt was held on
April 3, 2010 in order to provide an Easter tradition and
service to the community, fun for the entire family. Children
of alumni, staff, and future Carroll parents enjoyed breakfast,
games, crafts, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. It was

exciting to watch the children
hunt for eggs, as well as see their
delighted faces and hear their
eager voices singing “Here
Comes Peter Cottontail” as the
Easter Bunny joined them. The
weather was beautiful! To
everyone’s delight, it was the
first year children were able to
hunt for eggs outside.

ALUMNI SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
Held annually on a Saturday in April
The 3 rd annual alumni softball tournament was held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Delco Park. Thanks to
chairperson Toni Hemmert Weitz ’86 who led this effort, as well as committee members Sean Harshman ’01,
Meghan Brewster ’01, John Hemmert ’01, Chris Youngerman ’79, Teresa Weitz Haworth ’82, and Sam Weitz
’91. 2010 was the first year for a co-ed bracket. Ten alumni teams (6 men’s; 4 co-ed) showed up bright and
early Saturday morning – even in the rain – and had tons of fun! Tim Boehmer ’78 and his team won first place
in the men’s bracket, and Heather Harshman Morningstar ’97 and her team won first place in the co-ed bracket.

ALUMNI WEEKEND
Held annually in September surrounding a home football game occurring after Labor Day
The Homecoming Committee was combined with the Special Events Committee in 2007 because of alumni
interest in having a Carroll High School Alumni Weekend, separate from Homecoming, so that a social event
following the football game could be held at Carroll High School and not interfere with the student’s soc-hop.
The 4 th Annual Alumni Weekend was held September 9-12, 2010.
ALUMNI GOLF OUTING
Held annually on a Thursday in September, in conjunction with Alumni Weekend. Preference for date is the first Thursday after
Labor Day.
The 13 th annual alumni golf outing was held at Locust Hills Golf
Club on Thursday, September 9, 2010, chaired by Chuck Wagner
’72 (pictured to the left) with help from committee members Bill
Forsthoefel ’69, Dr. Greg Notestine ’71, Ray Aubin ’72, Mike
Miller ’72, Jim Butler ’74, and Dan Wyskiver ’74. $7,885 was
raised to support the
Alumni Association in
providing opportunities for
alumni, in helping to
further the advancement of
Carroll, and in providing Carroll legacy scholarships to current students.
The weather was perfect and the day was fun for all! Pictured to the

Congratulations to the foursome who achieved 1 st place
(pictured to the right): Mike Burns, Jody Maus, Bill Watkins,

women and Ed Volk achieved longest drive for men. Patrick
Holmes won the 50/50 raffle.

CHS ALUMNI NIGHT AND INDUCTEE LUNCHEON
Held annually on a Friday in September in conjunction with Alumni Weekend
On Friday, September 10,
2010, a special luncheon was
held for the 2010 Inductees to
the Distinguished Alumni Hall
of Fame. The morning began
with the inductees walking up
the infamous front steps that
many of them were not allowed
to approach when they were
students, making it a surreal
homecoming to their alma mater.
Student ambassadors from
Carroll, as well as certain faculty
and alumni members of the
awards committee, were waiting
for them at the top of the steps.
The student ambassador then led
the inductee on a tour of the
school and to an interview with
the student film club, Media 4 Carroll, and Luke Notestine ’00, sports
anchor from Channel 22. Then, all enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by Mrs. Cullin and her “Healthy
Gourmet” students. The afternoon ended with the inductees visiting various classes most similar to their area of

Alumni Night was held in the evening. Before the Carroll vs.
Bellbrook football game, the Carroll band marched down the field
playing the Fight Song and Alma Mater, along with the alumni band
members and alumni Liberty Belles. Then, the 2010 Inductees of the
Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame were announced. Pictured to the
right are Ted Fecke ’73 and Sharon Schneider Becker ’69.
After the game, @100 alumni met in the cafeteria for the Alumni Social
and enjoyed tasty appetizers, beverages, music, and tours of the
school. A special thank you to Mike Lofino ’65 for donating veggie
trays from Lofino’s Food Stores.
Once again this year an exciting wing-tasting contest was held.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI HALL OF FAME
Held on a Saturday in September in conjunction with Alumni Weekend
On Saturday, September 11, 2010, the third Induction to the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame occurred. The
evening was once again a first-rate event producing wonderful
memories of exceptional faculty and an excellent education at
Carroll High School. Six alumni from the classes of 1967
through 1986 were honored, along with the second recipient of
the “Honorary Patriot”
award: Fr. Victor Ries,
the first principal of
Carroll High School.
Two former Hall of Fame
recipients emceed the
event: JP Nauseef ’84 and
Dr. Greg Notestine ’71. JP and Greg are pictured to the right along with
committee chairperson Amy Sableski Wittmann ’88.

232 people attended the ceremony.
Many of the attendees were friends, family and classmates of the inductees as well as former and current

emcees declared, “Your fellow alumni, the
administration, faculty, staff, and students of Carroll High School want it to be known that you are distinguished
in our midst and shall evermore be remembered as a member of this honored Hall of Fame in which you are
recognized, and held up as an example of what it means to be a Carroll High School Alum, a true Patriot for
Life, and an example of the ideals of church, family, country, community, and service. Be it so known. Be you
so honored.”

Be sure to think of other outstanding Carroll graduates (at least 15 years out) who can be included in future halls
of fame. Nomination forms must be received by the first day in November to be eligible for induction the
following school year. Once candidates are nominated, their nominations remain active in subsequent years.

In 2011, the awards committee will be honoring the original Founding Booster Parent Volunteers from 1961-
1972 who were the first to impact Carroll’s tradition of excellence. These Honorary Patriots will be honored
during Carroll High School’s 50 th anniversary celebration during the weekend of October 13-16, 2011. For this
reason, a Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Ceremony will not be held in 2011.
CARROLL ALUMNI MASS
Held on a Sunday in September in conjunction with Alumni Weekend
On Sunday, September 12, 2010, a mass in memory of deceased alumni was presided over by Fr. David
Brinkmoeller at Immaculate Conception Church. What a meaningful way to bring Alumni Weekend to a close
by remembering all of those classmates who are no longer with us. A program with a list of all of the deceased
alumni names was distributed, and a special candle ceremony in memory of the deceased occurred during the
procession of gifts. Thank you to all of those who participated in the candle ceremony. Let us all pray for
alumni – both deceased and living – and Carroll’s continued success and good spiritual vision.
