Tankless Water Heater optimization<br />
Combining your Bosch solar collectors and storage<br />
tank with a Bosch tankless water heater will<br />
maximize your energy savings without comprising<br />
your comfort. Bosch’s intelligent solar controls<br />
optimize the performance of both systems so they<br />
work together to ensure no energy is lost.<br />
When the sun is shining, the solar system collects<br />
and stores the sun’s heat in a solar storage tank.<br />
If the temperature of the water in the storage tank<br />
drops and the collectors have sufficient heat, the<br />
solar pump activates to reheat the stored water<br />
with the energy from the collectors. Only if there is<br />
a long period of cloudy weather, and the collectors<br />
cannot reheat the water in the solar storage tank,<br />
would the tankless water heater activate to ensure<br />
you get the hot water you need.<br />
Bosch solar hot water systems can produce<br />
temperatures above 140°F. This make it necessary<br />
to install a thermostatic mixing valve to protect the<br />
user from the high temperature water produced in<br />
the solar DHW tank. Additionally a by-pass valve is installed to divert the flow of high temperature<br />
water around the tankless water heater in order to protect the unit. Bosch offers a number of<br />
tankless water heaters that are “solar ready.” These tankless water heaters will not ignite if the<br />
incoming water is hotter than the set temperature on the tankless water heater. When this condition<br />
is met, the water passes through the tankless water heater without additional, unnecessary heat<br />
being added, and the LCD Display will indicate “<strong>Solar</strong> Mode.” It’s that simple!<br />

A Bosch solar thermal heating system uses the free energy from the sum<br />
to heat domestic hot water (DHW) and can also be used for space heating<br />
back-up. A considerable proportion of solar energy can be used for heat<br />
generation using solar collector systems, saving valuable fuel, and fewer<br />
emissions reduce the burden on the environment and the earth's climate.<br />
<strong>Solar</strong><br />
Collector<br />
The regular demand for DHW heating is a perfect match for solar collector<br />
systems. Almost 100% of the energy demand for DHW heating during the<br />
summer can be covered by a solar heating system. Nevertheless, an auxiliary<br />
heating system must still be able to cover the DHW demand independently<br />
of solar heating. Long periods of bad weather may occur during which the<br />
convenience of hot water still has to be assured.<br />
The Bosch gas condensing tankless water heater is ideally suited for backing<br />
up solar thermal heating systems. The Bosch GWH C 800 ES tankless water<br />
heater is 92% efficient and only activates if the solar heating system is not<br />
able to supply the required hot water when there's a request. The end result<br />
is an energy efficient water heating system that cuts out needless energy<br />
consumption and reduces household water heating bills.<br />
