Street Lighting Demonstration Project Notice
Dear HOMEOWNER/RESIDENT,
ENERGY EFFICIENT LED STREET LIGHTING DEMONSTRATION (SEE MAP ON REVERSE)
Street Lighting has been an intricate part of the City of Los Angeles’ history from the gas lamp to the
current High Pressure Sodium lamp (orange glow lamp). The City has always been proactive in looking
into new technology to reduce energy thereby reducing our carbon footprint and improving lighting for all
vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Due to recent development with the white LED nodes the City will be
conducting a demonstration project in your neighborhood to evaluate this exciting new technology. The
location of this pilot project is bounded by Woodley, Haskell, Roscoe and Parthenia (see map on
reverse).
The installations of these new fixtures have started on Monday, November 17, 2008 and the
demonstration project is expected to continue until January 2009. These conversions will consist solely
of exchanging the existing fixtures for new white light fixtures with no impact to your property access or
use of your streets. You will hardly notice the crews. We anxiously anticipate your feedback
regarding the new lighting sources. A survey form will be mailed to your residence for your comments,
suggestions and feedback if you wish to participate.
The Bureau will utilize this demonstration project to collect your comments as well as other City officials,
other Cities in the nation, LAPD and various other stakeholders. If you have any questions now or during
