Diamante Poetry
A diamante poem is a poem in the shape of a diamond. It does not
have to rhyme. Similar to the Cinquain poem, each line uses specific
types of word, like adjectives and –ing words. This type of poem
typically consists of 7 lines with two different topics merging together.
Line 1 is one word, the noun or subject. Line 2 is two adjectives that
describe line 1. Line 3 is three –ing words that describe line 1. Line 4 is
four nouns- the first two relating to line 1 and the last two relating to
line 7. Line 5 is three –ing words that describe line 7. Line 6 is two
adjectives that describe line 7. Line 7 is one word, the other noun or
subject.
Summer- hot, sunny, humid, flip-flops, bright, fun, colorful, shorts,
break, vacation, sandals, sweaty, blistering, blazing, swimming,
scarves, cocoa, fireplace, slippery, snowing, freezing, dark, brisk, wet,
depressing, biting, crisp, sneezing, Christmas
