We have completed 25,000 pulp and paper<br />
mill projects over the last fi ve decades. Our<br />
specialties are wood processing, chemical<br />
pulping, mechanical pulping, recycled<br />

power plants, electrical power systems and<br />
environmental. Our pulp and paper services<br />
include strategic planning and conceptual<br />
studies, bankable feasibility and economic studies, operations analysis,<br />

start-up, commissioning, and training, complete engineering, equipment<br />

Our experience includes BOPP & BOPET fi lm, cement,<br />
chemical, food and beverage, and manufacturing. Services<br />
include basic and detailed engineering, plant and equipment<br />
layouts, civil and structural design of buildings, utilities, specialize<br />
material handling and cranage needs, HVAC, electrical<br />
power and distribution, process control and instrumentation<br />
engineering as well as supervision during construction.<br />

Our design and construction specialities include bulk material<br />
handling and storage facilities for many commodities, mineral<br />
concentrates, aggregates and wood products. Equipment for<br />
ship and barge loaders and unloaders, train indexers, rail car<br />
and truck dumpers, conveyers, feeders, crushers, stackers<br />
and stacker reclaimers, storage yards, enclosed storage and<br />
silos, reclaim systems, roll-on, roll-off truck or rail barge ramps.<br />
Environmental considerations for these projects include dust<br />
and noise controls, water collection and reuse or treatment,<br />

Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd., Kolkata, India<br />
Preparation of comprehensive Mill development plan and detailed project report for<br />
modernization of the Nagaon and Cachar paper mills located in Assam in 2006.<br />
Central Pulp Mill (now J.K. Paper)<br />
Sandwell designed the fi rst privately fi nanced bleached Kraft Pulp Mill using bamboo to be<br />
located in Songad, Gujarat State. The mill capacity is 100 TPD and had been designed to<br />
expand to 200 TPD in future. Sandwell worked as banker’s engineer and prepared cost<br />
estimates and control budgets. Thereafter Sandwell prepared process fl ow diagrams,<br />
equipment specifi cations and complete detail design.<br />

Sandwell provided complete detailed engineering and construction supervision services for<br />
this news print paper mill in 1980.<br />
Core Biotech Ltd., Ahmedabad, India, Linerboard mill based on wastepaper<br />
Preliminary concepts review, mill design, capital and operating cost estimates, wastepaper<br />
supply, fi nancial analyses and implementation plans.<br />
Indo Gulf Fertilizers and Chemical Corporation, New Delhi, India<br />
Wastepaper study for old newspapers, old magazines and mixed offi ce waste in North<br />
America, Europe and Asia. The study included availability and prices, market drivers, major<br />
suppliers, contracts, de-inking, processing requirements, and transportation systems to<br />
supply to a paper mill in India.<br />

Sandwell (in association with a local consultant) prepared a detailed project report and capital<br />
cost estimate for the development of a new port in Bedi.<br />

Business Plan for transforming the Port of Chennai into a world class facility.<br />

Oriented Polypropylene Film (BOPP) each 45000 TPA on suspended slab and post<br />
tensioned beam. Complete engineering for all utilities and associated piping. Supervision of<br />

Proof consultancy services for Civil/Structural design engineering for 1 MTPA Mugher<br />
Cement Plant being designed by a Chinese Institute using Chinese Codes and Standards.<br />
coal transportation from mines<br />
Government of India, Coal Transportation System, Bengal-Bihar<br />
Comprehensive engineering and economic study for the facilities required for movement of<br />
up to 14 MTPA of coal from mines in northeast India to several ports for consumption by<br />
various thermal power plants and for export.<br />
Evaluation of existing terminals and port facilities and preliminary design of necessary<br />
modifi cations or additions to these system components. Sandwell also participated in the<br />
analysis of the coastal shipping and tug barge systems and coordinated the integration of the<br />
multi modal transportation system.<br />
In the fi nal report, Sandwell analyzed this information from a total systems point of view and<br />
recommended transportation equipment and facilities which combined minimal capital and<br />
operating costs with maximum fl exibility and reliability.
