19.0 Immigration Procedures<br />

<strong>TIC</strong> now has stationed officers from respective Government ministries and<br />

departments who facilitate the issuance of residence and work permits.<br />

Residence Permit Class ‘A’ Process<br />

Residence permit Class ‘A’ is issued to persons intending to engage in trade business,<br />

profession, agriculture, animal husbandry, prospecting of minerals or manufacturing.<br />

The fees include $1,620 per permit, $20 for each dependant and 10% of the said sum as<br />

facilitation fee. Upon expiry of permit’s replacement is made by paying similar fees as first<br />

grant. The permit is issued for 2 years and renewable for another 2 years. All documents<br />

are submitted at <strong>TIC</strong> offices and addressed to:-<br />

Director of Immigration Services<br />

P.O. Box 512, Dar es Salaam.<br />

Documents to be included in duplicate are: • Certificate of Incentives • Certificate of<br />

Incorporation • Memorandum and Articles of Association • Business Licence• Tax Cearance<br />

Certificate • Business Licence • TIN certificate • Certificate of Registration for VAT • Seven<br />

passport size photographs • CV • Educational certificates • Evidence of business premises<br />

• Sectoral approval from any relevant ministry • Share Certificate (if needed) or Share<br />

Transfer • TIF 1 • Copy of passport. NB: Marriage and birth certificates must be produced in<br />

case dependents are to be endorsed in the permit.<br />

Residence Permit Class ‘B’ Process<br />

Residence permit Class ‘B’ is issued to persons (expatriates) who have been offered a specific<br />

employment in <strong>Tanzania</strong>. For new (or renewal of) class ‘B’ permits three copies of TIF 1<br />

should be completed together with seven passport size photographs. Marriage and birth<br />

certificates must be produced for dependants. Fees include US$ 600 for two years, US$ 20<br />

has to be paid in respect of the applicant as a re-entry pass fees and each dependant, and<br />

10% of the said sum has to be paid as facilitation fee. All applications are to be submitted<br />

to <strong>TIC</strong> offices and addressed to:-<br />

Attachments should include:<br />

• Certificate of Incentives • Certificate of Incorporation • Seven passport size photographs<br />

• CV • Academic/professional certificates • Job description • Organizational structure of the<br />

company • A letter of clearance from the Government • Membership/registration certificates<br />

or clearances from local professional bodies for testing and monitoring the professional<br />

integrity of expatriates – i.e. doctors, lawyers, nurses, engineers, pilots, surveyors,<br />

accountants and the like • Employment contract • Photocopy of relevant passport pages •<br />

Business Licence • Tax Clearance Certificate • Business Licence • TIN Certificate • Certificate<br />

of Registration for VAT • Evidence to show that a company has tried to fill the position with<br />

a <strong>Tanzania</strong>n by producing copies of advertisements announcing the vacancy as well as the<br />

CV of a <strong>Tanzania</strong>n alternative.<br />
