Rais<strong>in</strong>g charitable gift money has never been more important or more challeng<strong>in</strong>g. However,<br />
many <strong>Waldorf</strong> schools and other spiritually-<strong>in</strong>spired organizations merely copy the “best<br />
practices” <strong>of</strong> the nonpr<strong>of</strong>it sector. This <strong>of</strong>ten leads to problems and conflicts with the values <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Waldorf</strong> education and anthroposophy. This weekend workshop is an <strong>in</strong>troduction that will set<br />
you and your organization on the path to develop<strong>in</strong>g practices that support your organization’s<br />
core values. Mart<strong>in</strong> Novom is a certified fundraiser with the Association <strong>of</strong> Fundrais<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and Director <strong>of</strong> our <strong>Waldorf</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istration Program.<br />

Build<strong>in</strong>g on What Works for <strong>Waldorf</strong> Schools<br />
July 31 with Kelly Brewer, Davis <strong>Waldorf</strong> School<br />
Kelly Brewer, a graduate <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Waldorf</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istration Program, is known throughout the<br />
region for her thorough and imag<strong>in</strong>ative enrollment work. Her 90-m<strong>in</strong>ute workshop at the<br />
February Western <strong>Waldorf</strong> Educators’ Conference resulted <strong>in</strong> requests for more. From her many<br />
years at her school, her work with AWSNA and the DANA network <strong>in</strong> addition to the <strong>Waldorf</strong><br />
Adm<strong>in</strong>istration Program, she has honed a set <strong>of</strong> effective steps. As a participant you will create<br />
a calendar <strong>of</strong> enrollment events for your school enliven<strong>in</strong>g your established procedures. This<br />
<strong>in</strong>teractive workshop will br<strong>in</strong>g together staff and volunteers from schools around the region to<br />
share problems, solutions and an overview <strong>of</strong> the pr<strong>in</strong>ciples that are work<strong>in</strong>g well and produc<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Individual one-week course <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>gs from<br />

Beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g the summer <strong>of</strong> 2010 each <strong>of</strong> the four weeks per year <strong>of</strong> the part time tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Waldorf</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istration Program will be available as <strong>in</strong>dividual one-week course <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
Each week has a thematic topic with a lead teacher, an art and movement class, as well as<br />
<strong>in</strong>teractive work with the students <strong>in</strong> the program. A syllabus is available for each <strong>of</strong> these weeklong<br />
<strong>in</strong>tensive learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences.<br />

To work effectively <strong>in</strong> a <strong>Waldorf</strong> school requires an understand<strong>in</strong>g and familiarity with<br />
consensus decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g, meet<strong>in</strong>g facilitation, conflict resolution, mandat<strong>in</strong>g and effective<br />
committee practices. Jo<strong>in</strong> students <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Waldorf</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istration Program to learn important<br />
skills, widen your perspective and improve your mastery <strong>in</strong> an arts and experiential format.<br />
Our primary teacher is Lysbeth Borie with the Alpha Institute, a master facilitator and teacher<br />
<strong>of</strong> consensus decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

This five-day <strong>in</strong>tensive builds on the Fundrais<strong>in</strong>g and Philanthropy for <strong>Waldorf</strong> Schools weekend<br />
workshop to help students develop and manage a set <strong>of</strong> philanthropic programs that <strong>in</strong>tegrate<br />
volunteer<strong>in</strong>g, volunteer leadership and charitable giv<strong>in</strong>g. <strong>The</strong> full-day design <strong>in</strong>cludes lectures,<br />
an art class, small group work and historical biographies that comb<strong>in</strong>e to <strong>of</strong>fer practical steps<br />
and a philosophical deepen<strong>in</strong>g. Mart<strong>in</strong> Novom br<strong>in</strong>gs his 30 years <strong>of</strong> anthroposophical studies<br />
and work with more than 75 <strong>Waldorf</strong> schools.<br />
