ADMISSION NOTICE<br />

No.-RMLAU/Gen.-Admin/<strong>CET</strong>/2011/3736 Dated- January 9, 2012<br />

As per the decision communicated vide Government Order No.-1419(2)Sattar-1-<br />

2011-16(26)/2011 dated 26 August, 2011 to conduct State level “Common Eligibility<br />

Test” for admission to various “Doctoral Programs” in State Universities of U.P., the<br />

<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Ram</strong> <strong>Manohar</strong> <strong>Lohia</strong> <strong>Avadh</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Faizabad shall conduct the above said test on<br />

April 29, 2012 at different centers.<br />

It is clarified that admission to various Doctoral Programs in State Universities of<br />

U.P. will be made by the individual State Universities, on the basis of “Eligibility<br />

Certificate” issued to successful candidates, as per provisions made in their<br />

Statutes/Ordinances etc.<br />

Eligibility :-<br />

1. Masters degree in relevant subject (See List of Subjects in Table-1) with a<br />

minimum of 55% marks or equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point under the<br />

Seven Point Letter Grade Scale laid down by the UGC. A 5% relaxation in<br />

minimum marks at PG level shall be given to SC/ST and physically<br />

handicapped/disabled candidates.<br />

OR<br />

The minimum educational qualification prescribed by the individual State<br />

<strong>University</strong> in their Statutes/Ordinances etc for admission to Doctoral<br />

program.<br />

2. The candidates appearing in Final year/Final semester examination are also<br />

eligible to apply. However they will have to produce their Final year/Final<br />

Semester examination result at the time of admission. The Eligibility test<br />

result of such candidates will be declared provisionally.<br />

3. ‘UGC minimum standards and procedures for award of M.Phil./Ph.D. degree<br />

Regulation 2009’ read with clarification on Guidelines for admission in<br />

Ph.D. circulated vide Letter No. F.1-1/2002(PS)/Exemp Part file III March<br />

2011 shall be applicable with respect to NET qualified candidates. The<br />

above mentioned documents are available on <strong>University</strong> website<br />

www.rmlau.ac.in and also on UGC website www.ugc.ac.in.<br />

Examination Fee:-<br />

Rs. 800/= for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 400/= for SC/ST candidates.<br />

Syllabus:-<br />

The syllabus of this ‘Common Eligibility Test’ will be that prescribed for<br />

UGC/CSIR/ICAR-NET-JRF Examinations which is available on the UGC/CSIR/ICAR<br />

websites.<br />

How to Apply:-<br />

1. Availability of the Application Form-<br />

The prescribed Application forms will be available from February 25, 2012. The<br />

candidates can obtain the prescribed application form through scheduled counter of<br />

the main branch of State Bank of India and Head Post Office of the cities as<br />

mentioned in Table-2.<br />

2. Last Date for Submission of Application Form-<br />

Duly filled-in application form should be sent to “The Registrar, <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Ram</strong><br />

<strong>Manohar</strong> <strong>Lohia</strong> <strong>Avadh</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Faizabad-224001, U.P.” by<br />

Registered/Speed-Post only, so as to reach the Registrar’s Office on or before<br />

March 20, 2012 up to 5.00 pm. The university shall not be responsible for any<br />

postal delay whatsoever.<br />

Validity of ‘Eligibility Certificate’ :-<br />

The Common Eligibility Test ‘<strong>CET</strong>’ will determine the eligibility of candidates for<br />

registration/admission in Ph.D. Programmes in various U.P. State Universities. A list of<br />

qualified candidates along with their score will be notified for General/OBC/SC/ST<br />

categories. Eligibility certificate (with score) will be valid for next two years from the<br />

date of issue.<br />

Scheme of Test:-<br />

The Common Eligibility Test will be based on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)<br />

and shall have two papers as detailed below-<br />

1. Paper-I:- This paper of 2.00 hours duration will contain 100 MCQs based on<br />

research aptitude and general awareness and will be of 100 marks.<br />

2. Paper-II:- This paper of 3.00 hours duration will contain 200 MCQs based on<br />

Subject knowledge and will be of 200 marks.<br />

There shall be no negative marking.<br />

Qualifying Percentage:-<br />

To qualify the <strong>CET</strong>, candidates have to secure minimum 40% marks in each Paper<br />

and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. 5% relaxation in minimum marks shall be<br />

available to SC/ST candidates.<br />

Scheme of Examination:-<br />

Examination Centres:-<br />

The <strong>CET</strong> will be held at various centres in 12 cities of Uttar Pradesh which are<br />

specified with their city codes in Table-02. No TA/DA will be admissible to any<br />

candidate for attending the test, in any circumstance.<br />

Admit Cards:-<br />

The admit card of eligible candidates for appearing in eligibility test will be sent by<br />

Post and shall also be available on university website www.rmlau.ac.in.<br />

Instructions for Filling the Application Forms:-<br />

All the entries in the Application form should be filled by the candidate in BLOCK<br />

LETTERS and by Black ball point pen. Avoid over-writing because it can cause error<br />

during computer scanning of the Application Form. Candidate should also ensure that his<br />

Photograph is affixed properly at specified place. A sample of filled Application form is<br />

attached as Appendix-1.<br />

Important :-<br />

1- The Test centre and the date of examination can be changed at the discretion of<br />

<strong>University</strong> conducting <strong>CET</strong>.<br />

2- All disputes pertaining to <strong>CET</strong> shall be within the Jurisdiction of Faizabad only.<br />
