LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading: Acts 10:34-43 (Christ is made by God judge of the living and the dead. )
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Peter proceeded to address the people in these words: "In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly is acceptable to him. You know the
word that he sent to the Israelites as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, how
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and
healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
We are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to
death by hanging him on a tree. This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible,
not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him
after he rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the
one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that
everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name."
The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 22 (23)
Responsorial Psalm 22 (23) Refrain: "The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want."
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose. Near restful waters he leads me to
revive my drooping spirit. Refrain: "The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want."
He guides me along the right path; he is true to his name. Refrain: "The Lord is my shepherd, there
is nothing I shall want."
If I should walk in the valley of darkness, no evil I should fear because you are with me. Refrain:
"The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want."
You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me comfort. Refrain: "The Lord is
my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want."
You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes. Refrain: "The Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want."
My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing. Refrain: "The Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want."
Surely goodness and kindness shall follow my all the days of my life. Refrain: "The Lord is my
shepherd, there is nothing I shall want."
In the Lord's house shall I dwell for ever and ever. Refrain: "The Lord is my shepherd, there is
nothing I shall want."
Second Reading: Philippians 3:20-4:1 (Christ transforms our body and will conform it to his
glorious body.)
A reading from the letter of Paul to the Philippians.
As you well know, we have our citizenship in heaven; it is from there that we eagerly await the
coming of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will give a new form to this lowly body of ours and
remake it according to the pattern of his glorified body, by his power to subject everything to
himself. For these reasons, my brothers, you whom I so love and long for, you who are my joy and
my crown, continue, my dear ones, to stand firm in the Lord.
The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation: John 6:40
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
This is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal
life.
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
Gospel: John 21:15-19 (Follow me)
The Lord be with you. R. And also with you.
From the Gospel according John. (21: 15-19) R. Glory to you O Lord.

[At that time when he had manifested Himself to his disciples and] When they had finished
breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these" He
said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said
to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know
that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of
John, do you love me" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me"
and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him,
"Feed my sheep. Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and
go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else
will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go." He said this signifying by what kind of
death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."
The Word of the Lord. R. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
CREED
The Apostles Creed is used instead of Nicene. The Apostles Creed is probably the baptismal creed
of Rome from at least the 2nd century. It is used in baptism for the catechumens to affirm their faith,
and in the renewal of baptismal vows. Similar creeds are used in the baptisms of all rites from the
earliest days of the Church. The 2002 Roman Missal permits its use as the Creed at Mass during
Lent and the Easter Season.
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father
almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Sprit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion
of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and
life everlasting. Amen.
