issues. Mr Hamza Kassongo is dubbed the Larry King of Tanzania as
he presents and produces the self-titled talk show, Hamza Kassongo
Hour.
Make sure that you catch the talk show on Sunday, November 2 nd at
21:30 and again on Saturday, November 8 th at 14:00 as Mr Kassongo talks to your very
own Chairperson, Xiaobing He; Co-Chair, Michelle Ntombela; Treasurer, Wolfgang Ewert;
and Projects Committee Member, Laetitia Raadschilders about the Diplomatic Spouses
Group in Tanzania.

Secondary School Production Tours The IST Campus…
On The Razzle by Tom Stoppard is a fast-paced comedy about the adventures of two mischievous
shop assistants, Christopher and Weinberl (played by Billie Rose Turner and Jameel Bharmal) who
get more than they bargain for when they rush off to the city in search of a good time. Their
employer Zangler (Joao Pedro Badiani Gibier de Souza) is the rich and self-satisfied owner of a
provincial grocery shop, or “high class provisions emporium” as he prefers to call it. Zangler has
been flirting with fortune, hoping to expand his markets by making a simultaneously romantic and
profitable alliance with the owner of a city fashion boutique, Madame Knorr (Susan Akwera). At
the same time, he is struggling to keep his niece Marie (Katie Walters) away from her own
romantic liaison with her young lover Sonders (Ntando Mndawe).
With some misgivings, Zangler leaves his shop in the charge of his two bumbling shop assistants
with the questionable work ethic in order to wine and dine his fashionable fiancée Madame Knorr.
Christopher and Weinberl promptly shut up shop and follow Zangler into the city for a piece of the
action - so the fun and the confusion begin. As they dodge Zangler through the city in search of
adventure, Christopher and Weinberl find themselves in some hilariously sticky situations, and
need to use all their wit and charm to find their way out again!
Peopled with larger than life, outrageously funny characters exchanging dialogue that crackles
with wit and double entendre (oh, and the odd awful joke…) the sparks soon fly as everybody
seeks to cover their tracks and keep out of trouble.
This year, our talented IST performers are exploring a new style of open air performance called
promenade (or “walk around”) theatre. This means the different scenes in the play will be
performed in different parts of the IST campus while the audience moves from one location to the
other, led by the players, to watch the different scenes. Part of the surprise is that the audience
does not know beforehand where they will be led to next…
Go On The Razzle at IST as you literally follow the characters around the IST campus (make that
the city of Vienna) in wild pursuit of adventure!

Projects Committee
The “Project of the Month” for November is Sister Josefata
of the Franciscan Sisters of Divine Providence. They
provide health and community services to the extremely
poor in Dar. Members are asked to please donate dry
food (sugar, rice, flour, beans, etc.) at the next DSG
meeting.
Administration
The DSG annual membership fees for 2008-
2009 are due by the end of November. If
you want to remain on the DSG mailing list,
please pay at the next DSG Morning or
arrange with somebody to pay on your
behalf.
Fundraising Committee
With 34 participating countries, an awesome Raffle Prize list, a star-studded entertainment programme,
games and Treasure Hunt for the kids, this Bazaar looks like being one of the best yet.
Posters and tickets are now available. Country coordinators can collect them at the November 3 rd site
meeting at IST at 4pm. Others can collect them from a member of the fundraising committee or request
by email to dsgbazaar2008@yahoo.com. Entrance and Raffle tickets will be on sale to the public from
November 1 st at Art n’ Frame at the Slipway, the Food Deli at Oyster Bay and Lithos at the Kempinski.
We will also sell at the times and places listed below, and would welcome assistance in selling on these
dates:
Sat, Nov. 1 st from 2pm - 4pm at Milimani City
Sun, Nov. 2 nd from 4pm - 6pm at Slipway
Sat, Nov. 8 th from 10am – noon at Shoppers Plaza
Sat, Nov. 8 th from noon - 2pm at Sea Cliff Village
DSG members need to return unsold entrance and raffle tickets and money to Monelle Holshey or
Amy Carr (schedule via dsgbazaar2008@yahoo.com or 0764 763 567) by, at the latest, 5pm on Friday,
November 14 th (at IST during bazaar setup).

Volunteers needed on Bazaar Day
We know DSG members are already busy getting items ready for sale at their
stalls, and that you will need people at your stall throughout the day of the
bazaar (Sat, November 15 th ). However, it is still essential that we have
assistance with some basic bazaar functions, such as ticket collection, drinks
sales, information/raffle desk and entertainment area. Please sign up (yourself,
your spouse, your kids…) to assist for a few hours. Free t-shirt and/or hat for
