Essentials to Know
Before You Go
FUNPASSSM Advance Registration - U.S. Border Security Act
Carnival is required to provide the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security with specific guest information and a final
departure manifest 60 minutes prior to departure. To comply,
you must register in advance for your cruise by going online
to carnival.com/mycruise and clicking on the FUNPASS icon.
You will need your Carnival booking number, ship and sail
date to access your record. Once you complete the required
fields of pertinent information, you will obtain a FUNPASS
that will allow you to “fast track” through a documentation
verification process at embarkation. If you do not have
Internet access, you can send this information via fax. Contact
Carnival Reservations at 866-236-6670 for the Advanced
Reservations Form. Failure to provide the information before
midnight of the day prior to departure date will result in
delays in embarkation and will require guest to check in at
least 90 minutes prior to the published sailing time.
Passport Information
Carnival recommends that all guests travel with a passport
valid for at least 6 months beyond completion of travel.
application assistance.
such areas. Special note: It is essential that you wear the
proper apparel when visiting the Vatican and other religious
mobility device, would be unable to be comfortably
accommodated due to vessel safety barriers and other
criteria, we may ask the guest to bring along a companion to
assist, or to make alternative arrangements. It is mandatory
that guests with any medical, physical or other special
Guests are encouraged to limit their checked luggage to two
suitcases per person, with each suitcase not to weigh more
than 50 pounds and not exceed 16"h x 24"w x 30" length.
Please attach your Carnival Cruise Lines luggage tags PRIOR
option of carrying luggage on board at embarkation and off
the ship at the end of the cruise as long as it does not
exceed 24"w x 16"h.This is an advantage you may want to
consider as it will allow for quicker and easier access to your
bags. Please note that Carnival assumes no responsibility for
carry-on luggage. Alternatively, curbside porters are available
at the pier to take luggage to the vessel for delivery to your
stateroom by shipboard personnel. Customary tip is $1 per
bag. Please be sure each piece of luggage is locked and has a
tag listing your name and stateroom number. Curbside porters
are not employees of Carnival; therefore, if you experience
any problems, please report them to porter management on
site. Any luggage left at the pier will be forwarded at your
expense. Claims for luggage loss or damage must be made in
writing to the debarkation personnel prior to leaving the
pier area.
If you are traveling by air, please remember that each airline
has its own luggage restrictions on the maximum number,
size, and weight of bags allowed per person. You are
responsible for contacting your airline to learn about their
individual luggage restrictions and policies.
their own risk.
Boarding Card and Ship Access
Your Sail & Sign card will serve as your boarding card. This
card identifies you as a Carnival guest and must be carried
with you, along with picture identification, when you go
ashore. Since the ship is closed to the public while docked at
the various ports of call, you’ll have to show your Sail & Sign
Card and picture I.D. to the officer on duty in order to return
on board.
Will I have any problems with money on shore
U.S. currency and traveler’s checks are accepted at most
ports of call we visit. Store owners will honor most credit
cards but personal checks aren’t usually accepted.
and you should feel free to leave or return any time, day
English, even if it is with a slightly different accent.
Coming Home
Disembarking
All guests must present proof of citizenship to an inspector
from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security upon
disembarking the vessel. Carnival strongly recommends that
you travel with a passport since this will expedite your
debarkation process. You will also need to have your
Sail & Sign card on hand to “check out” of the ship’s
security system.
Claiming your Luggage
While onboard, you will be given numbered debarkation tags
to place on your luggage. Please fill out the information on
the back of the tag, and remember your zone number.
When your zone is called, please proceed off the vesel to
claim your luggage. It is easy to pick up the wrong bag, so
check to make sure your name is on it. If your luggage is left
at the pier, it will be forwarded to you at your expense.
Claims for lost or damaged luggage must be made in
writing with our debarkation personnel before you leave
the pier area.
Making Customs Easy
Customs is rarely the ordeal many people imagine it will be.
In fact, it is usually a formal but brief check of luggage and
declared merchandise. Just remember that Customs
inspectors are there to protect us from smugglers and
illegal imports, not to harass happy travelers. Everyone and
everything must clear Customs.Your cooperation will make it
easier for all involved.
What do I have to fill out
Part of going through Customs consists of declaring
merchandise you have purchased abroad and are bringing
back into the country. You will fill out a Customs Declaration
Form while on board and present it to the Customs
inspector when going through Customs.
C A R N I VA L C RU I S E L I N E S 3 9
The instructions on the form are self-explanatory. However,
you will also find a thorough explanation of Customs
procedures and debarkation procedures in Carnival Capers on
the last evening of your cruise. In addition, your Cruise
Director will provide a debarkation briefing prior to the last
day. If you have any questions please feel free to ask our staff.
What do I have to declare
You must declare all merchandise you have purchased or
acquired abroad and are bringing back into the United States
or Canada. That includes items you have purchased in dutyfree
shops and in port as well as items you have received as
gifts. It also includes items you have begun to use or are
wearing. However, it does not include items that have been
shipped directly from Mexico, the Cayman Islands or Canada
which will be assessed a duty when they enter the country.
Items shipped back from other countries must be declared
and Customs Form 255 filled out upon your return to the
United States.
step. Please use the stair’s handrails when ascending and
descending.
In the stateroom we recommend that you keep the floor
and candles is prohibited in the staterooms. Make certain to
unplug curling irons when not in use.
