Honda Hoot
June 18-21, 2008 . Knoxville, Tennessee
Presented by
Everyone ’ s favorite motorcycle event
just got even better!
Welcome to the Honda Hoot...
let the adventure begin!
For the last 15 years, riders from all across America have counted the days until the
middle of June rolls around. Why It’s not because that’s when the kids are out of
school. It’s not even when the IRS sends out tax-refund checks. No, the middle of
June brings one of the best motorcycle events of the entire year—the Honda Hoot®.
And this year the Hoot is bigger and better than ever,
with great new events and rides and more fantastic prizes,
because this is the Hoot’s 15th anniversary.
If this is your first Hoot, this brochure will give you
an idea of what you can look forward to. Even if this
is your 15th Hoot, you’ll still be delighted by the fun
additions that have joined your favorite rides and happenings,
plus all the great roads and camaraderie that
are a part of every Honda Hoot. You don’t have to
take our word for it either; the Southeast Tourism
Society recently selected the annual Honda Hoot rally
as a “Top 20 Event” in this part of the country—high
praise indeed!
While the official name is the Honda Hoot presented by Progressive Insurance, everyone’s
welcome, no matter what kind of bike you ride, and whether it’s new or old. By the end of
your week here, you’ll have seen bikes you never knew existed.
There are plenty of planned events at the Hoot: group rides, tours, and things like that. And
there’s plenty of free time too, so you can just explore, shop or kick some tires and check out
the bikes. And everyone who has ever been to the Hoot talks about the food—Southern
cookin’ at its very best. Show up with every minute planned, or show up with no plan at all—
at the Hoot, it’s all good, and a great time will be had.
Savvy Hoot riders know it pays to register early and sign up as a full Hoot registrant: Most
events and rides are open only to those who are fully registered. This includes the closing ceremonies
at the end of the event, which will feature the 15th Anniversary Grand Prize: a trip for
two to the 2009 MotoGP of Japan, held at the Twin Ring Motegi racetrack, also home to
Honda’s incredible Motegi Collection Hall Museum, where you’ll see the most amazing collection
of production and racing machines in the world.
Fifteen years ago we had no idea the Honda Hoot would draw so many riders from so
many parts of the country. Isn’t it about time you experienced what all the Hootin’ and
hollering is about
Southern hospitality—
Honda Hoot style!
At the Honda Hoot, you can always find something that’s just right for you. It’s the time
and place for big parties and fun gatherings. When you arrive in Knoxville on Tuesday,
there’s the Honda Hoot Welcome Party at the Marriott Hotel. Live music, dancing, food
and drinks will be available at this “beach party” event. You can also pick up your preregistration
materials here. We’ll even throw in some Hoot Bucks to help get your own
personal party rolling.
From Wednesday through Saturday, we have a Riverboat Cruise and Breakfast on the
Star of Knoxville, which departs from Volunteer Landing and cruises the Tennessee River.
Late Wednesday afternoon, enjoy the Ice Cream Social in Chilhowee Park and watch the
Knoxville Police Motor Corps Riding Exhibition. This is also a great time to check out the
Vendor Expo and pick up some accessories. That evening, hop on over to the Hoot & Holler
at Cotton Eyed Joe. They have blackjack and Texas hold ’em, dance-team performances,
dance lessons if you need them and a live band. It’s another popular gathering, and there’s
no cover charge for Hoot attendees.
On Thursday, head over to Bike Night at the World’s Fair. It’s held at World’s Fair Park in
downtown Knoxville. There’ll be a live band with dancing, as well as vendors selling food
and drinks, plus carnival activities and more. And while you’re there, check out the Metric
Motorcycle Show. All metric models are eligible to be displayed and compete in 2008,
so polish up your rig and wheel ’er in!
Friday brings another brand-new event: A Party on the Landing. Stretched along the
banks of the Tennessee River, Volunteer Landing is the perfect spot for a nighttime party.
There’ll be plenty of great barbecue available for purchase, plus music and dancing. And our
spectacular Fire in the Sky Fireworks will be launched from the river, creating an incredible
show and ending this awesome party with a bang.
Saturday features the biggest party of the week, the Hoot Closing Ceremony, including
a Hoot Concert with Wynonna Judd. (This exclusive concert is available only to full registrants
and only to the first 6000 who register for the Hoot.) To top that off, we’re featuring
a truly amazing Honda Hoot 15th Anniversary Grand Prize (see more details on page 9).
Remember, to win you must be a full registrant, you must be present and you must have
your ticket stub with you.
Parties and fun. That’s just how we do it at the Honda Hoot!
Party time!
Back roads with
limitless possibilities
Every single day,
someplace new to ride.
You’ve probably seen the T-shirt: “How come you never see a motorcycle parked
outside a psychiatrist’s office” Well, if you don’t know the answer to that
already, you will after a couple of days at the Honda Hoot. Here’s a rundown on
some of our favorite rides for 2008.
On Wednesday, there’s a new event for 2008: Ghost Town in the Sky. Enjoy a scenic ride to this
mountain-top Wild West theme park in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, which offers thrilling rides
(including the world’s only roller coaster located, literally, on the side of a mountain), gunfights (using
blanks, of course), live music and shows, plus lunch, all within an authentic reproduction of a Western
ghost town. Also on Wednesday there’s the popular Cherohala Skyway Ride. This is a spectacular selfguided
trip (including lunch), and you can ride at your own pace on one of the greatest roads you’ll
ever ride, with elevations that climb over a mile high.
Thursday’s Capes and Cavern Ride is another new event. Polish up your Bat Bike for your ride to the
largest cave in Tennessee, where you might even encounter some caped crusaders. You’ll start your explorations
with a quarter-mile walk down into the caverns (always a naturally cool 56 degrees!) past rock formations,
waterfalls and pools to the ballroom, where lunch and some surprises await. There’s also the
Cumberland Gap Ride on Thursday. This self-guided ride covers some spectacular countryside, and in
town you’ll witness a Civil War reenactment on the main street. A great mountain lunch is included.
On Friday, we have three great rides in store for you to pick from, including the new-for-2008 Bikes
and Boats at the Lake. Enjoy this great self-guided ride to Lenoir City and Fort Loudon Dam, which
stretches 4190 feet across the Tennessee River. There, representatives from Honda Marine will greet
you with boats and watercraft rides. Enjoy a leisurely lunch while lounging under the shade trees, and
remember: it’s OK to lounge, so stay a while.
Another Friday ride is a longtime Hoot favorite: The Poker Run, a charity fundraiser benefiting the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Even if you’re not a gambler, you’re raising money for a great cause,
and the ride itself is always a treat.
Last year we introduced Beans, Beans and More Beans, an event that was a real gas, so to speak.
So in 2008 we’ll reprise our exclusive tour of the world-famous Bush Beans plant, including lunch. Last
year was the first time in history that the Bush company opened its doors to the public. It was an
instant sellout, so sign up early as 2008 will be the 100th anniversary of Bush’ founding.
Finally, on Saturday there’s the Ride For Kids, always a big favorite at the Hoot. As you probably
know, the Ride For Kids is the official charity of the Honda Rider’s Club of America, and the proceeds
from this ride help benefit research and treatment for children suffering from brain tumors.
A little later on Saturday is the Best Dam Ride and Fish Fry, a real Hoot classic. This one sells out
every year, and once you’ve tasted that catfish lunch you’ll know why. The magic of Norris Dam can
be wonderful.
Honda Rider’s Club of America Members-Only Event
Hey batter, batter...
Choices, choices, choices:
Demo Rides and more!
Demo Rides are a favorite event at every Honda Hoot, and it’s easy to see why. Of course
Honda will be there with new bikes; we’ll hand you the keys, and take you out for a spin—
what’s not to love about that Make sure you sign up early on the day you want to ride. (As
part of the 15th-anniversary celebration, the Hoot will focus on Honda-related products and
services. All attendees on any make and model of motorcycle are encouraged and invited to
attend the Hoot, but only Honda products will be available for Demo Rides.) And best of all,
it’s included in your registration.
Every year at the Hoot we feature a special event just for
Honda Rider’s Club of America Members. And for 2008 we
have a great one lined up. What’s just about the best way
to spend a lazy summer afternoon Well, how about combining
a terrific self-guided motorcycle ride with a great
baseball game You’ll be treated to an exclusive matchup of the Tennessee Smokies against
the Mobile Bay Bears. (Seven Smokies were called up to the Majors in 2007.) And we’ll have
some other activities before the game, just for the HRCA Members present.
The Smokies are an affiliate team of the Chicago Cubs, and as a Hoot attendee and
HRCA Member you’re going to get the red-carpet treatment. First, you’ll be treated to a
VIP lunch—and that’s after you ride into a dedicated area in the stadium parking lot to
exclusive motorcycle-only parking. During the game, you’ll be sitting in a special section
near third base—an area where some special
former Major League players have been known
to drop by. You’ll also get a special commemorative
cap. And one lucky Hoot attendee who
registers for this event will be asked to throw
out the first pitch!
In addition to the great riding, there’s lots more going on
at the Hoot. Some old favorites include discounted tickets
to one of the great local attractions, such as Black Bear
Jamboree, Country Tonite, Dixie Stampede, Dollywood
Themepark and Knoxville Zoo. There’s even White Water
Rafting on the Pigeon River.
For 2008, we’ve added a new attraction, WonderWorks,
which began as a top-secret facility on a remote island, or
so the story goes. An experiment went awry during an
attempt to harness a man-made tornado. Well, let’s just say
there are 120 interactive, hands-on exhibits awaiting you,
and your mind will be blown away by many of them. There is also a Hoot n’ Holler Dinner
Show featuring music, comedy and an Italian feast. You have several ticket options available.
So many choices, all in one Hoot!
Leave the Hoot with a song in your heart
You’ve heard some great performers over the years here
at the Hoot, but for 2008 we’re kicking it up a notch. Or
two. Or three. Or perhaps 15! You’ll never guess who we
have lined up.
Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Wynonna
Judd will be performing in concert at a special private
Honda Hoot performance, live at the Civic Coliseum as
part of our closing ceremonies. Wynonna’s music goes
way beyond Country: she’s one of America’s most popular
performers, and if you’ve never seen her in concert
this is your chance. Respected by millions of fans who
are drawn to her music and her life story, this world-renowned vocalist and entertainer
has won the Academy of Country Music’s Top Female Vocalist Award and celebrated 20
number one hits on the charts. She has also been honored with the USO’s Merit Award
for service to all branches of the United States armed forces. In 2005 she added the New
York Times best-selling author title to her already extraordinary resumé with the release
of her autobiography, Come Home to Myself.
Only the first 6000 fully registered Hoot attendees are eligible to attend Wynonna,
in Concert. It’s all part of our 15th-anniversary Honda Hoot celebration and you won’t
want to miss it.
A very special Honda Hoot 15th Anniversary Grand Prize
Everyone who’s ever been to a Honda Hoot knows about the Grand Prize drawing at the end of the festivities.
But this year we’re going to outdo ourselves: To celebrate this year’s 15th anniversary of the Honda
Hoot, we’re awarding one incredible 15th Anniversary Grand Prize. What is it How about a trip to Japan
