all in one single device. Charging is highly flexible as well: Pico can be powered by solar modules, batteries, or AC adapters. Users<br />

do not need to be concerned about energy consumption, as the integrated <strong>Phocos</strong> MPPT charge controller extends battery lifespan<br />

and provides continuous light for up to 55 hours. The robust housing is sealed against water and dust and is shock resistant – this<br />

protects the electronic <strong>com</strong>ponents inside from dust, moisture, insects, and failures.<br />

A PV system consists of four parts: the solar modules, the solar-powered charge controller, the battery, and the electrical loads, such<br />

as lamps, fridges, freezers, or TV monitors. With these off-grid systems, users without access to the power grid can supply their<br />

electrical devices with reliable power – even in regions far away from the grid. <strong>Phocos</strong>’ solar-powered charge controllers are the<br />

Origin in Research<br />

The origin of <strong>Phocos</strong> lies in research: In the mid-1980s, engineers at the Ulm University of Applied Sciences developed new<br />
