A new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60 th anniversary of Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II
Diamond Jubilee Medal serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.

Commissionaires Distinguished Service Medal (CDSM)
The Commissionaires Distinguished Service Medal (CDSM) is one of the most prestigious awards issued
by Commissionaires. It was established by the National Board in June 1989 to recognize distinguished
service of significance above and beyond faithful performance of duty.

CEO Commendation
Although the CEO Commendation is not part of the National Service Awards Program, it is an important
part of Commissionaires Ottawa’s internal recognition program. This award recognizes outstanding
achievements such as customer service excellence, the provision of services significantly above and
beyond the normal performance of duty, volunteerism with impact on the community, and selfless
support to fellow commissionaires.
This year’s recipient is:
• Jeanne Watson, Corporate Services Manager, Commissionaires Ottawa Headquarters
Supervisor of the Year Award
As an important part of Commissionaires Ottawa’s internal recognition program, the Supervisor of the
Year Award commends outstanding duty performance by a supervisor.
This year’s recipient is:
• Maj John Peters, Section 16, National Defence Headquarters
Guard of the Year Award
As an important part of Commissionaires Ottawa’s internal recognition program, the Guard of the Year
Award commends outstanding duty performance by a supervisor.
This year’s recipient is:
