Urbino Tactical Stock for Benelli M4 

(Limbsaver, 12-GA, Black) 

The Urbino the first truly tactical stock for the Benelli 

shotguns. A shorter LoP is necessary for use in tactical 

applications, especially with body armor. The Urbino 

Tactical stock is durable, easy to shoulder, will not slip 

and increases comfort and control.

SureShell Carrier for Urbino

The Santoprene grip reduces recoil impact against the 

web of the operator’s hand, and the optional Limbsaver 

buttpad substantially reduces felt recoil. 

The field-adjustable cheek riser provides superior cheek 

weld when using optics and can be quickly removed or 

readjusted for use with sights if optics fail. 

Specially-developed SureShell ® shotshell carriers can 

be fitted to the cheek riser (see page 23). Rail-equipped 

Urbino stocks can be used without the cheek riser. 

Risers cannot be fitted to stocks that do not have the 

rails. All Urbino Tactical stocks are made in the USA, and 

include Benelli-style rear sling loops for 1¼ inch sling 

webbing. In addition, an QD style sling swivel is included 

that fits in a hole in the lower rear of the stock.

URBINO TACTICAL POCKET 

SLING ATTACHMENTS 

The Urbino Tactical stock system features a molded pocket at 

the front where the stock meets the shotgun receiver. A nylon 

blank is provide to fill this pocket, but it can also accept any of 

several stamped steel Sling Loops, Hook Loops or Push Button 

Sling Swivel mounts. The Push Button Sling Swivel mount includes 

a Push Button Sling Swivel, and all sling mounts feature 

a tough mil-spec manganese phosphate finish. Ambi style sling 

attachments feature mounts on both sides of the receiver.

The Urbino Tactical stocks include stamped steel sling plates that mimic the factory Benelli rear 

sling plates. We have produced replacement stampings that feature a circular hook loop instead 

of the sling loop for use with increasingly popular H&K style (dog leash) sling hooks. These hook 

loops are stamped steel with a tough mil-spec manganese phosphate finish.

MOHAWK Mohawk FOREND forend 

for semi-automatic shotguns 

Mesa Tactical developed the Mohawk forend for the R12/Versa Max ® in conjunction with 

Remington Defense. Designed and built as a tactical forend, Mohawk adds functionality and 

improves performance. 

Mohawk is a modular forend system capable of meeting multiple tactical requirements. Integral 

accessory pockets on the right and left side accept inserts as required by the shooter. The inserts, 

included with the Mohawk forend include; polymer Picatinny rail sections, flat pads for mounting 

other Picatinny rail sections or other direct mount accessories, pocket covers with an integral 

wire opening and contoured pocket covers. 

Modularity and accessory attachment points are only part of what makes Mohawk the best tactical 

forend for the R12. It has an ergonomic shape and finger grooves maximizing weapon handling and 

control. Vertical grooves provide a positive and secure grip. Mohawk comes standard with a ventral 

Picatinny mount at the front of the forend. An installed sling swivel is included. Also available are an 

optional forward steel sling plate or hook loop, either standard or ambidextrous.

Our High-tube adapters have a comb height equivalent to an AR-15 and require an optics rail 

(included). These specialized adapters are for certain law enforcement applications or competition. 

High tube adapters allow proper cheek weld and eye alignment with popular optics such as an 

ACOG or Leupold CQT and others. High-tube adapters and stock kits include nine inch or 24 inch top 

Picatinny optics rails. While the 9.50 inch rails can optionally be secured to the shotgun receiver 

as well as the stock adapter, the 24 inch rails are anchored at the front by a 

clamp. The Remington versions are available with a barrel clamp 

or a magazine clamp, or no clamp at all (for customers who

Recoil Buffer 

HYDRAULIC RECOIL BUFFER 

The Crosshair Hydraulic Recoil Buffer takes the place of the 

receiver extension tube, converting the AR-15 telescoping 

stock into a recoil-buffered stock assembly without further 

modification. Recoil-buffered versions are available for all 

three of the telescoping stock systems, or the recoil buffer 

can be purchased separately (see page 12). The recoil buffer 

accepts mil-spec dimensioned buttstocks. The Crosshair 

Hydraulic Recoil Buffer is CNC machined from 6061-T6 

aluminum and meets the stringent standards of military 

and law enforcement users. Our basic kits include the adapter 

and all necessary installation hardware. No gunsmithing is 

required for installation.

Our aluminum adapter kits include everything necessary to 

retrofit Remington or Mossberg pump shotguns with most 

AR-15 style stocks and pistol grips. Our adapter kits allow 

customers to add their own AR-15 stock assemblies as desired. 

Our complete stock kits are more comprehensive. 

They include the aluminum AR adapter; Hogue rubber 

overmolded grip; US-made mil-spec six-position 

M4 SOPMOD style telescoping stock assembly; and all 

necessary assembly hardware and instructions. The 

High-tube stock kits also include a top Picatinny rail. 

A Telescoping Shotgun Stock Multi-tool and pushbutton 

sling swivel are included with every stock kit.

For shooting comfort and control, we recommend a butt pad 

for the stocks, and we offer two styles. USGI-style slip-on 

rubber butt pads expand the butt’s surface area and make 

it easier and more comfortable to shoulder and fire your 

weapon, though they do not offer any recoil absorption. 

LimbSaver slip-on recoil pads feature a patented threestep 

recoil reduction technology that reduces up to 70% 

of felt recoil, and maintains target acquisition. They 

feature a 12 month warranty by Limbsaver. 

Any Mesa Tactical telescoping stock kit 

can be upgraded with a Crosshair 

hydraulic recoil buffer which replaces 

the receiver extension tube in our stock 

kits and reduces felt recoil by up to 70%.

Mesa Tactical’s 20 gauge to 12 gauge adapter dramatically 

increases the number and type of butt stocks 

that can be used with 20 gauge Remington 870 shotguns. 

Attached at the receiver in place of the standard 

20 gauge stock, this cast steel adapter enables the 

use of any 12 gauge Remington 870 stock. There are

SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers are the best 

weapon mounted shotgun ammo carriers available. 

Machined from aircraft aluminum, they feature an 

innovative rubber friction retention system and tough 

construction to endure years of use and abuse. Since 

their introduction in the spring of 2005, they have rapidly 

become our best-selling products, and have emerged as 

the standard on-gun shotshell storage of tactical operators 

and professionals. 

SureShell carriers are milled from 6061-T6 aircraft 

aluminum, then bead blasted and mil-spec hard coat 

anodized for a rugged non-glare finish. SureShell yokes 

are secured to application-specific brackets, and some 

SureShell carriers include high temperature adhesive 

backed, die-cut rubber gaskets to protect the host 

shotgun’s finish. 

Most of our SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers mount 

directly to the receiver of leading shotgun platforms. 


REMINGTON The Sureshell receiver mounting system 

for Remington 870, 1100 and 11-87 shotguns uses a 

combination of steel fasteners threaded into a steel pin 

(at the rear) and paired Chicago screws (up front) for 

more secure attachment to the shotgun without the risk 

of pinching the receiver. The mounting plate even features 

a window over the shotgun serial number location, to 

make it easier for armorers to inventory their weapons. 

Note, SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers cannot be 

installed on right side of Remington semi-auto shotguns. 

To use a six- and eight-shot SureShell carrier mounted on 

the left side of the Remington 870 shotgun, you must use 

a tactical forend that does not overlap the receiver, 

or a factory forend that is cut down appropriately. 

SureFire® forends are fully compatible with our six-shot 

SureShell carriers, but will need about ½ inch shaved 

off the end to be installed with Mesa Tactical eight-shot 

SureShell carriers. 

Remington side mount SureShell carriers are available 

in both 12 gauge and 20 gauge models. 

MOSSBERG The side mount system of our shotgun 

SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers for the Mossberg 

500/590 substitutes two custom-machined steel Chicago 

screws for the trigger pin. At the front of the mounting 

plate, custom retaining steel hardware is used with an 

elongated extractor screw and a machined key hole in 

the plate. The Mossberg 930 mounting system is similar, 

except it uses two sets of Chicago screws in place of the 

two trigger pins. The mounting plate was designed not 

to obscure the receiver serial number to make it easier 

for armorers to inventory their weapons. 

SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers for the Mossberg 

fit on the left side of the receiver only. You must use a 

tactical forend that does not significantly overlap the 

receiver, or a factory forend that is cut down appropriately. 

SureFire forends will work fine with no alterations. 

BENELLI Our side mount shotgun SureShell aluminum 

shotshell carriers for the Benelli M1/M2 substitute 

custom-made steel Chicago screws for the trigger pin. 

The mounting plate is curved to hug the shotgun receiver, 

preventing movement of the SureShell assembly. 

SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers for the Benelli 

M1/M2 fit on the left side of the receiver only; they are 

known to fit onto Benelli M3 shotguns as well as M1 and 

M2 models. Extra weight on the weapon may adversely 

affect the reliable cycling of inertia-operated shotguns 

such as the Benelli M1 or M2 when used with low-recoil 

ammunition.

Remington Mesa Tactical Saddle Rails for the Remington 

870, 1100 and 11-87 are aluminum brackets that wrap 

around the top of the shotgun receiver, with a Picatinny 

optics rail at the top. The factory trigger pins are replaced 

by an internally threaded steel pin (in the rear) and paired 

Chicago screws (up front), to which both sides of the saddle 

rail are securely bolted. SureShell Saddle Rails feature a 

MIL-STD-1913 (NATO STANAG 4694) Picatinny sight rail 

along the top, and a four-, six- or eight-shot SureShell 

aluminum shotshell carrier yoke on the left side of the 

receiver. The rail is notched at the rear to accommodate 

Scattergun/Wilson style ghost ring sights, and extends to 

the front of the shotgun receiver (5 inch rail), 2¾ inches 

past the front of the receiver (8½ inch rail), or just beyond 

the barrel’s magazine lug (20 inch rail). The 20 inch rails 

are anchored at the front by a clamp. They are available 

with a barrel clamp or a magazine clamp, or no clamp at all 

(for customers who already have clamps). 

Receiver mount SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers for 

the Remington Versa Max semi-automatic shotgun feature 

mounting brackets with integral top Picatinny sight rails. 

These brackets are secured to the weapon using the top 

mounting screw holes. The SureShell aluminum shotshell 

carriers are thus slung on the left side of the receiver, 

securely fastened at the top. No other shell 

carrier mounting method is as secure or looks as good. 

No gunsmithing is required to install the SureShell Saddle 

Rail, except for optional forend alterations as described 

above under side mount carriers. Saddle Rails are also 

available without the shell carriers (see page 26).

SureShell Carrier and Rail for Moss 

500 (6-shell, 12-GA, 4 1/2 in) 

Mossberg These SureShell aluminum shotshell 

carriers for the Mossberg 500 and 590 feature mounting 

brackets with integral top Picatinny sight rails. The brackets 

are secured to the weapon using the top mounting screw 

holes found on Mossberg 500 and 590 shotguns made 

since 1997. The SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers are 

thus slung on the left side of the receiver, securely fastened 

at the top. No other shell carrier mounting method is as 

secure or looks as good. 

The 20 inch rails are anchored at the front by a magazine 

clamp that features either a short length of Picatinny 

accessory rail at the bottom, or a sling swivel stud. The 

front clamp interferes with the barrel lug on 18 inch 

Mossberg 590s, and so are incompatible with these platforms. 

Twenty inch Mossberg 590s fit just fine, however. 


Benelli While the Benelli M2 Tactical semi-automatic 

and Benelli SuperNova ® pump-action shotgun feature 

factory-tapped rail mounting holes in the top of the receiver, 

the Benelli M4 and M1014 are shipped with a top 

Picatinny sight rail. These provided us with an opportunity 

to develop SureShell aluminum shotshell carrier 

mounting solutions for Benelli shotguns that 

are streamlined and very robust. 

Receiver mount SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers 

for the Benelli M2, M4 and M1014 feature mounting 

brackets with integral top Picatinny sight rails. 

These brackets are secured to the weapon using the 

top mounting screw holes. The SureShell aluminum 

shotshell carriers are thus slung on the left side of the 

receiver, securely fastened at the top. No other shell 

carrier mounting method is as secure or looks as good. 

SureShell aluminum shotshell carriers for the Benelli 

M2 Tactical can be installed on Benelli M1 shotguns with 

round-top receivers by tapping the top of the shotgun 

receiver with #8-40 threads. Consult a gunsmith. 

Extra weight on the weapon may adversely affect the 

reliable cycling of inertia-operated shotguns such as 

the Benelli M1 or M2 when used with low-recoil ammunition. 

The Benelli M4 is gas-operated and has no such 

cycling sensitivity. 

Kel-Tec KSG The SureShell carrier system for the 

Kel-Tec KSG comprises a replacement anodized aluminum 

Picatinny optics rail which supports one or two 

machined shell carrier yokes. Small aluminum flanges 

on either side of the main rail can accept additional 

lengths of Picatinny rail to support weapon lights or 

targeting lasers (rail not included, see page 29). A pair 

of unique steel recoil blocks featuring angled set screws 

ensure the rail assembly is securely 

mounted to the shotgun. 

SureShell carriers for the Kel-Tec KSG 

feature four- or six-shell yokes, on the 

left side or right side or both sides. A 

replacement Picatinny rail without 

SureShell yokes is also available, 

(see page 27).

Benelli Stock mount 

Our Stock Mount SureShell carriers fit on most Benelli 

pistol grip fixed stocks. The rugged stamped steel 

SureShell bracket replaces the stock’s sling loop and 

mounts four additional shells securely on the side of 

the stock (does not fit on Benelli M4 stocks, nor will 

this shell carrier fit on the Urbino Tactical stock). 

This assembly is also available with an H&K style

The Mesa Tactical Magazine Clamp can be used to 

more securely retain aftermarket or factory magazine 

extensions, while at the same time offering flexible 

accessory mounting options near the shotgun muzzle. 

Magazine clamps are available with a push-button 

quick release sling swivel or a two inch MIL-STD-1913 

(NATO STANAG 4694) Picatinny rail that can accept 

standard weapon light mounts. 

The Magazine Clamp can also be used to mount one 

inch diameter weapon lights simply by clamping one 

side to the shotgun barrel and the other side to the

Mesa Tactical provides two methods for mounting Picatinny 

rails to tactical shotguns. For Remington shotguns, we offer 

the Mesa Tactical Saddle Rail, which mounts to both sides of 

the receiver and wraps around the top. Top mount rails work 

with Remington, Mossberg and Benelli shotguns that feature 

factory tapped rail mounting holes in the top of the receiver. 

All Mesa Tactical Picatinny rails are machined from 6061-T6 

aircraft quality aluminum, and finished with mil-spec Type 

III hard anodizing. Mesa Tactical Picatinny rails include all 

necessary mounting hardware.

Remington saddle rails 

Mesa Tactical Saddle Rails are 6061-T6 aluminum brackets 

that wrap around the top of the shotgun receiver. The factory 

trigger pins are replaced by an internally threaded steel pin 

(in the rear) and paired Chicago screws (up front), to which 

both sides of the saddle rail are securely bolted. The saddle 

rail is Type III anodized for a rugged surface finish. 

Our Saddle Rail is specially contoured to allow operation 

of a semi-automatic bolt on the right side of the receiver, 

so it can be installed on Remington 1100 and Remington 

11-87 semi-auto shotguns as well as Remington 870 pump 

shotguns. The rail is notched at the rear to accommodate 

Scattergun/Wilson style ghost ring sights, and extends to 

the front of the shotgun receiver (5 inch rail), 2¾ inches 

past the front of the receiver (8½ inch rail), or just beyond 

the barrel’s magazine lug (20 inch rail). The 20 inch rails are 

available with or without the required Magazine Clamp or 

Barrel Clamp. 

No gunsmithing is required to install. Minor fitting of 

fasteners may be necessary.

Remington side-mount rail 

Recently Mesa Tactical was asked by several law enforcement 

agencies to produce a Picatinny rail that can be mounted 

on the right side of the Remington 870 and allow a weapon 

light to be secured behind the ejection port. This is for door 

breachers who need more light in tight quarters where 

lights near the muzzle would be unsuitable. We also offer a 

rail for the left side of the receiver. These rails are compatible 

with SureShell carriers mounted on the opposite side of 

the receiver. 

As with all our rails, these are machined to the MIL-STD 

1913 specification from 6061-T6 aluminum, and features a 

mounting system similar to that of our SureShell aluminum 

shotshell carriers. 


Rails for drilled and 

tapped receivers 

Mesa Tactical makes Picatinny rails for several popular 

shotgun models that feature pre-drilled and tapped 

holes in the tops of their receivers. 

Top rails for the Remington 870 use the tactical hole 

pattern introduced on some tactical 870 models in the 

summer of 2007. 

Mossberg rails attach directly to the receivers of late- model 

(1997 and later) Mossberg pump shotguns with pre-tapped 

holes. The 20 inch rails are anchored at the front by a magazine 

clamp that features either a short length of Picatinny accessory 

rail at the bottom, or a sling swivel stud. The front clamp interferes 

with the barrel lug on 18 inch Mossberg 590s, and so are 

incompatible with these platforms. Twenty inch Mossberg 

590s fit just fine, however. 

The hardware included with the Remington and Mossberg 

rails are for pump action shotguns. They can be used with 

semi-auto versions (Remington 1100 and Remington 11-87, 

or Mossberg 930) by grinding the fasteners down to the 

appropriate lengths. 

Rails for the Benelli M2 Tactical and Benelli SuperNova Tactical 

mount just forward of the ghost ring sights, extending to 

the front of the receiver. Benelli M2 Tactical rails can also be 

installed on round-top Benelli M1 receivers after drilling and 

tapping the top of the shotgun receiver with #8-40 threads.

The Picatinny optics rail for the Kel-Tec KSG features small 

aluminum flanges on either side of the main rail that can 

accept additional lengths of Picatinny rail to support weapon 

lights or targeting lasers (accessory rail not included, see

Some shotgun magazine extensions include stamped 

steel sling plates secured in place by retaining clips. We 

have produced replacement stampings that feature a 

circular hook loop instead of the sling loop for use with 

increasingly popular H&K style (dog leash) sling hooks. 

Our Magazine Extension Hook Loops are available for 

the Benelli M2 and Benelli M4 shotguns, as well as Vang 

Comp magazine extensions for Remington shotguns 

(before you ask, the Scattergun/Wilson Combat sling 

loops are permanently installed and cannot be replaced 

with hook loops). 

Magazine Extension Hook Loops feature a tough milspec 

manganese phosphate finish. Ambi style sling attachments 

feature mounts on both sides of the receiver.
