TRAIL WORTHY LIGHTWEIGHTS<br />
Durango’s lead the way when it comes to trail worthy lightweights. And while last year’s overhauled<br />
chassis won accolades, we knew we could do better. And we did, with an all-new frame using a<br />
shaped and gusseted down tube and smarter dropouts that enhance rear-end stiffness for more<br />
cornering precision and better handling overall.<br />
And that was just for starters. The Durango 1.0’s 100 mm-travel fork provides you with lockout for optimal<br />
pedaling efficiency, a 24-speed Shimano drivetrain with a Deore rear derailleur upgrade and a pair of stopin-any-conditions<br />
Tektro Io-X disc brakes.<br />
Step up to the Durango 2.0 and you get a magnesium-legged, lockout-equipped RST Omega fork, 27-speed<br />
Shimano Deore drivetrain and dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes, and WTB Speed Disc double-wall, eyeleted<br />
hoops.<br />
Strive for the 3.0 and you’ll see a premium Marzocchi MZ Race fork with 100mm of coil-sprung/hydraulic damped<br />
travel (with lockout!), and Shimano’s new Deore XT Shadow rear derailleur which sits safely under the chainstay so<br />
you’ll be able to rack up the miles without a lot of breakdown time.<br />
It’s always a good day to hit the trail. Do it on a Durango, and make it great.<br />
The Durango series gets a completely new frame for <strong>2008</strong> with lighter triple-butted main tubes,<br />
a stiffer/stronger 31.6 seat post platform, and a hydro-formed down tube with an integrated<br />
sideplate gusset. Hydro-forming is a specialized type of die forming utilizing high pressure<br />
hydraulic fluid to press room temperature working material (in this case, aluminum) into a die.<br />
Hydro-forming allows us to manipulate and shape our frame tubes in ways that would be difficult<br />
or impossible with standard tube drawing or shaping, enabling our frame designers to increase<br />
frame strength without the additional weight of a heavier tube or welded-on gusset plates.<br />
