„Wie viel hält eine „gloryfy unbreakable“ tatsächlich aus?“ Um diese Frage ein für alle mal zu beantworten, holten wir Hannes Arch
zu einem ultimativen „unbreakable test“. Der ehemalige Red Bull Air Race World Champion beherrscht sein Flugzeug wie kein
anderer und kann ohne Probleme punktgenaue „Touch and Go“-Manöver durchführen. Ehe man sich versieht, geht Hannes schon
in den spektakulären Anflug. Mit voller Geschwindigkeit landet er punktgenau auf der Sonnenbrille, die auf dem Rollfeld positioniert
wurde. Mehr als 600 kg Gewicht wirken mit einem Mal auf die Brille ein! Nachdem er die Brille überrollt hat, zieht Hannes das
Flugzeug Flugzeug wieder steil steil nach oben und verschwindet in den tiefblauen Himmel! Ergebnis dieses haarsträubenden Tests: die Brille hat
die Beanspruchung bis auf ein paar Kratzer ohne Probleme überstanden! überstanden! Wie gesagt ... unbreakable!

“How durable durable are “gloryfy unbreakable” shades really?” In order to answer answer this question once and for for all, we drafted in Hannes Hannes Arch
to take take part in an ultimate “unbreakable test”. The former Red Red Bull Air Race World Champion controls his aeroplane like no other and
can can perform “touch-and-go” manoeuvres with utmost precision, no problem at all. Before we knew knew it, Hannes was was already preparing preparing
to make a spectacular landing. He landed right on top of the shades which were were placed on the airfield at full speed. More than 600
kg in weight weight were were suddenly acting on the shades! After running over the shades, Hannes abruptly abruptly drew the aeroplane back back up into
the air before disappearing into the deep blue sky! And the result of this hair-raising test: test: the shades withstood withstood the strain without
any problem apart from a couple of scratches! Just like we we said ... unbreakable!

Hero: Chrigel, was ist die Faszination Berg für
dich?
Chrigel: Da ich in den Bergen aufgewachsen bin, ist
es für mich ganz natürlich, mich dort zu bewegen. Zu
Fuß hinauf, per Gleitschirm herunter ... und das alles
ohne irgendwelche technischen Hilfsmittel! Nur ich
und die Schönheit der Natur!
Hero: Du gehst ja beim Red Bull X-Alps 2011 als
Favorit an den Start, mit Advance hast du einen
Top-Schirm, mit Lowa Top-Schuhe und auch wir
von gloryfy werden dir gutes Brillenmaterial geben
- trotzdem, wo siehst du die große Herausforderung
für eine erfolgreiche Titelverteidigung?
Chrigel: Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich letztes Mal
unbeschwerter ins Rennen ging. Heuer stehe ich als
Titelverteidiger unter einem großen Druck! Trotzdem
hab ich mir neue Ziele gesetzt. Es sind zwar dieses
Mal keine direkten Leistungsziele, aber ich freu mich
einfach wieder auf das Abenteuer in der Natur und
darauf dieses mit meinem Team zu bewältigen!
Hero: Chrigel, what is your fascination with
mountains?
Chrigel: As I grew up in the mountains, it feels completely
natural for me to be in these surroundings.
Hiking up, paragliding down ... and all this without
any kind of technical assistance! Just me and the
beauty of nature!
Hero: At the Red Bull X-Alps 2011, you will start as
favourite. Advance are going to provide you with a
top-quality paraglider, Lowa are going to provide
you with the best footwear and we at gloryfy are also
going to supply you with great eyewear - despite all of
this, what do you see as the major challenge when it
comes to successfully defending your title?
Chrigel: I honestly have to say that last time I began
the race without a care in the world. This year, as the
defending champion, I am under a lot of pressure!
Nevertheless, I have set myself new goals, although
this time they are not direct performance targets, but
I am simply looking forward to tackling the outdoor
adventure once again and to working with my team
to overcome this challenge!

Am Parkplatz türmen sich verrostete Stühle, Tische und Betten. Geschirrkörbe und Gläser mit eingelegtem
Gemüse rotten neben alten Badewannen und zerbrochenen Lampenschirmen vor sich hin. Es hat den
Anschein als wurde vor 20 Jahren das Hotel-Restaurant „Ponale“ am Ufer des Gardasees von heute
auf morgen verlassen. Die Aussicht von einem der zahlreichen Balkone ist dennoch einmalig, sogar im
November: wolkenloser Himmel, 2.000 m hohe Berge und ein tiefblauer See. Ein wenig kalt ist er, die
Fingerprobe ergibt zapfige 15° C. Die Klippenspringer Orlando und Alain tauschen die knappe Badehose
nur zu gern gegen den Neoprenanzug. Sie müssen ins Wasser und das nicht nur mit der Zehenspitze. 15
m durch die Luft, Salti gebückt und gehockt, dann verschluckt sie das Wasser. Sieht spielerisch aus. Das
breite Grinsen beim Auftauchen verstärkt diesen Eindruck. Die beiden lieben, was sie tun und ge hören
zur absoluten Weltelite im High Diving. Zwei Sekunden pro Sprung bleiben den
Fotografen und Kameraleuten auf der Terrasse, am Wasser und im Gebüsch
gegenüber, um die Action einzufangen. Den perfekten Spot
für den Covershot des Magazins findet das Team im
Hinterland - ein Wasserfall. Besser geht’s nicht!

Rusty chairs, tables and beds are piled high in the car park. Crockery baskets and glasses with vegetables
inside rot beside old bathtubs and broken lampshades. It looks as though the hotel-restaurant “Ponale”
situated on the banks of Lake Garda was abandoned overnight twenty years ago. However, the view from
one of the many balconies is unique, even in November: cloudless skies, 2000m-high mountains and a
deep blue lake. It is a little cold; the finger probe shows a very chilly 15°. Cliff divers Orlando and Alain are
only too happy to swap their tiny trunks for wetsuits. They have to go in the water and not just to dip their
toes in. Hurtling 15m through the air, bending and crouching to perform somersaults before landing in and
being swallowed up by the water. It looks playful. The huge grin on their faces as they surface strengthens
this impression. They both love what they do and are among the international absolute elite in high
diving. The photographers and cameramen on the terrace, in the water and amongst the shrubbery
opposite have two seconds per jump to capture the action. The team discovers the perfect spot
for the magazine cover shot in the hinterland - a waterfall. It does not get any better than this!

dunkelblauen Sommerhimmel. In einem kristallklaren See, inmitten der grünen Berglandschaft,
springt die deutsche Wakeboard-Koryphäe Bernhard Hinterberger Mal für Mal
über eine Schanze. Gezogen von einer Winde, landet er nach einem gewaltigen Satz und
mehreren Rotationen um die eigene Achse wieder sicher im Wasser.

2050 metres above sea level, the summits of the Gerlos mountains rise regally into the deep
blue summer skies. In a crystal clear lake in the middle of the green mountainous landscape,
the recognised authority as far as wakeboarding is concerned, German-born Bernhard
Hinterberger, performs his jumps time and time again. Pulled by a winch, after making a giant
leap and performing several turns on his own axis, he lands safely again in the water.

Lebensprojekt?
Heinz: Auf alle Fälle, unsere Vision ist es,
Querschnittslähmung heilbar zu machen.
Jedes Jahr verletzen sich ca. 130.000
Menschen am Rückenmark und erleiden
eine Querschnittslähmung. 50% davon sind
Verkehrsunfälle, ca. 9% Sportunfälle. Dank der
Wings for Life-Gründer ist garantiert, dass jeder
gespendete Euro in ein wissenschaftliches
Projekt fliest, welches ausschließlich das Ziel
Heilung von Querschnittslähmung verfolgt.
C.E.: Wie ist der derzeitige Stand in der
Forschung?
Heinz: Nun, Wings for Life konnte schon viel
in der Forschung vorantreiben, aufgrund von
Wings for Life, aber natürlich auch anderer
Forschungseinrichtungen - etwa die von
Christopher Reeve (auch bekannt als Superman)
gegründete Stiftung - konnten viele neue wissenschaftliche
Erkenntnisse gewonnen werden!
Wir unterstützen immer gleichzeitig mehrere
Projekte, die von einem wissenschaftlichen
Team ausgesucht werden - dabei sind z.B.
Stammzellenprojekte, aber auch viele andere
Ansätze, bei denen versucht wird, das verletzte
Rückenmark/Nerven wieder aufzubauen. Auch
das Unterbewusstsein spielt eine große Rolle.
Mit nur 25% der Nerven kann der Mensch sich
„normal“ bewegen, viele Querschnittsgelähmte
hätten ja noch intakte Nerven - die Frage ist, wie
kann man diese ansprechen. Man sieht, das
Thema Querschnittslähmung ist sehr komplex,
jeder Fall ist anders und muss auch individuell
gesehen werden. Der Weg zu unserem Ziel
ist steinig, aber wir sehen, dass die Zahl der
Menschen, die unser Tun und Handeln unterstützen
immer größer wird, dass die wissenschaftlichen
Ergebnisse zunehmend konkreter
werden. Das gibt Kraft und auch in noch so
schwierigen Phasen weiß ich tief in mir ganz
genau: Querschnittslähmung wird heilbar
werden!
C.E.: Wings for Life und gloryfy unbreakable -
eine gelungene Kooperation?
Heinz: Absolut, an dieser Stelle ganz persönlich
von mir ein großes Dankeschön an alle, die
eine gloryfy Wings for Life Sonnenbrille gekauft
haben und damit die Stiftung unterstützen - es
sind genau diese Spender, die wir brauchen.
Bis jetzt sind es weit über 2000 verkaufte
Brillen, also weit über € 20.000,-, die an Wings

Heinz: Definitely. Our vision is to make spinal
cord injury curable. Each year, almost 130,000
people injure their spinal cord and suffer from
spinal cord injury as a result. 50% of those are
involved in traffic accidents and around 9% in
sporting accidents. Thanks to the founder of
Wings for Life, it is guaranteed that every euro
donated will go towards financing a scientific
project aimed solely at finding a cure for spinal
cord injury.
C.E: How is the research going at present?
Heinz: Well, Wings for Life has already made
great advances in research. Thanks to Wings
for Life, but also of course to other research
institutions - such as the foundation set up by
Christopher Reeve (also known as Superman) -
it has been possible to gain a great deal of new
scientific knowledge! We constantly support a
number of projects chosen by a scientific team
simultaneously. These include, for example,
stem cell projects, but also many other basic
approaches which attempt to reconstruct the
injured spinal cord/nerves. The subconscious
also plays a major role. With just 25% of the
nerves, a human being is able to move “normally”.
The nerves of many paraplegics are thought
to have remained intact - the question is how
we can stimulate these. As you can see, spinal
cord injury is a very complex issue. Every case
is different and must also be considered on an
individual basis. The road to achieving our goal
is long and hard, but we can see that the number
of people who support what we do is constantly
on the rise and that the scientific results are
becoming increasingly more concrete. I draw
strength from this and even in what are still the
very difficult stages, I know deep down that spinal
cord injury will become curable!
C.E: Wings for Life and gloryfy unbreakable -
do you consider it to be a successful collaboration?
Heinz: Absolutely, at this point, I would like to
say a very personal big thank you to all of those
who have bought a pair of gloryfy Wings for Life
shades and thereby supported the Foundation
- these are precisely the kind of donors we
need. To date, well over 2000 pairs of shades
have been sold, meaning that well in excess
of €20,000 has gone to Wings for Life. Thank
you - I hope that it will continue to develop as
well in the future!

In der Schweiz wird Tradition nach wie vor groß geschrieben. Deshalb
treffen sich alle drei Jahre die stärksten jungen Männer, um sich im
Schwingen, Hornussen und Steinstossen zu messen. Die Wettkämpfe
finden, wie zuletzt 2010 in Frauenfeld, vor einer Menge von bis zu
250.000 interessierten Zuschauern statt. Ausgetragen auf einem
Sägemehlkreis ist es das Ziel, seinen meist sehr massiven Gegner
mit vollem Körpereinsatz (mit einem sogenannten „Schwung“) auf den
Rücken zu werfen. Um dies zu erleichtern, tragen die Athleten über
den Kleidern eine aus Jute gearbeitete Schwingerhose, die einen
sehr guten Angriffspunkt bietet. Der Sieger des Kampfes wird zum
Schwingerkönig ausgerufen und genießt in der Schweiz das Ansehen
eines Nationalhelden.
Dies gelang 2010 dem erst 20-jährigen Kilian Wenger. Natürliche
Be gabung gepaart mit unheimlichem Ehrgeiz und Ausdauer
haben ihn „unbreakable“ gemacht und zurecht bekam er zuletzt
den Titel des „Schwingerkönigs“ verliehen. Wir sind stolz Kilian im
gloryfy-Team zu haben.
In Switzerland, tradition continues to be very important. For this reason,
every three years sees the strongest young men get together to go
head-to-head in Swiss wrestling, hornussen and stone throwing. The
competitions take place in front of up to 250,000 spectators, as was
most recently the case for the 2010 event held in Frauenfeld. Held in
a sawdust ring, the aim is to throw your generally enormous opponent
with the full force of your body (with a so-called “swing”) on his back.
To make things easier, the athletes wear shorts made of jute specially
designed for Swiss wrestling over the top of their clothes, which offer
a very good point of contact. The winner of the fight is proclaimed the
Swiss Wrestling Champion - “Schwingkönig” - and is regarded as a
national hero in Switzerland.
Kilian Wenger, who is only 20 years old, was crowned champion
in 2010. Natural talent combined with incredible ambition and stamina
made him “unbreakable” and he was finally rightly awarded
the title of Swiss Wrestling Champion. We are proud to have Kilian
on the gloryfy team.

testen. Und das bei außerordentlich guten Pistenverhältnissen und exzellenten
Parkbedingungen am Hintertuxer Gletscher beim HOTZONE.TV Park Opening
vom 1. bis 3. Oktober 2010. Mit dabei war natürlich auch gloryfy mit einem Teststand
am Berg und vor allem mit der Aprés-Shred „gloryfy bagjump Session“ im
Tal. Das Opening 2011 findet wieder in Hintertux von 30.9. bis 2.10.2011 statt.
