Pictured are the key leaders of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), Chairman Charlie Vig and Tribal Administrator Bill Rudnicki, along with Kathy Giddings, RN, Michael Morris, St. Francis Director of Business Development, Alan Spillers, Executive Director Saints Healthcare Foundation and John Hulbert, MD. shakopee Mdewakanton's Generosity improves local health care Saints Healthcare Foundation recently welcomed key leaders of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), Chairman Charlie Vig and Tribal Administrator Bill Rudnicki, to St. Francis Regional Medical Center. During a tour, the leaders saw a demonstration of the new C-arm surgical table and learned how it benefits people undergoing urological, kidney and prostate surgeries. The new surgical table was purchased thanks to a generous contribution from SMSC. It gives St. Francis the ability to provide more local surgical options for residents of the community. Vig and Rudnicki also toured St. Gertrude Health & Rehabilitation Center's recently completed expansion project. They saw, firsthand, the positive impact the additional rooms and therapy area have for the community. SMSC made a $1 million matching contribution to the rehabilitation addition, which opened in late 2011. ABOVE: Present for the visit to see the Prevue Ultrasound System, which allows St. Francis's emergency medical staff to quickly and more accurately treat victims of severe trauma, were members of the Saints Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors, St. Francis Emergency Department leadership and staff, Rahr Malting Company staff and a representative from the system’s manufacturer, Bard Access Systems.
