In 1984, Soft Play reinvented the playground by introducing space-efficient, 

Contained Play areas with activities and components that kids climb in and not on.

entry and exit points to reduce safety surfacing needs. We have nearly 30 years

Initial Consultation 

The first step is to contact us. We provide a level of personal service and support that is 

unique in the industry which makes the process even easier. One of our representatives 

will work with you to gather important information beyond just the site dimensions. 

There are three key areas to consider

Once we have this information, our creative team will prepare a 

proposal package that includes the types of units, photo realistic 

renderings and site plans of all levels of the units, and the key 

components (slides, wobble hoppers, etc.), of the system.

Mississippi Children’s 

Museum 

Jackson, Mississippi 

The Mississippi Children’s Museum project was a 

rewarding collaboration with the visionaries and 

craftsmen of Boss Display, one of the leading 

designers and manufacturers of quality, custom 

interactive exhibits for children’s museums and 

science centers in the country. Soft Play’s mission was 

to incorporate fun and challenging physical activities 

into the Boss-designed experiential exhibits which 

highlight the region’s natural resources, industries, 

culture and heritage. Among them is a four-level 

climbing structure atop a shrimp boat. Once kids have 

safely piloted the ship back to harbor, they can exit 

via the spiral slide or clamber through a suspended 

cargo net tunnel to their next adventure. An interactive 

barn, complete with a crop dusting plane on the roof, 

features another slide in the silo. The Mississippi 

Children’s Museum is one of several children’s 

museums Soft Play has worked on, but marks the first 

collaboration of this type with a 

display/theme company.

Smile Magic Dentistry 

Lewisville, TX 

A visit to the dentist isn’t usually a kid’s idea of 

fun—unless they’re lucky enough to be patients of 

Smile Magic Dentistry in Lewisville, TX. Soft Play’s 

challenge was to design a unique, ADA-accessible 

playground with the maximum possible capacity 

for kids and fun, that would fit into the existing 

patient waiting area without major construction or 

renovation with minimal disruption. Despite a ceiling 

less than 12 feet high, we managed to fit in 2 ½ 

levels of active play, including a custom slide with 

a cool Sand Castle theme, that actually has kids 

clamoring for their next cleaning.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada 

Edmonton’s youngest citizens now have their own 

pint-sized version of the city with four levels of play 

for year-round indoor fun that feels like the great 

outdoors. Soft Play created a miniature model of the 

City’s Central Park--complete with roads and traffic 

signals--right down to the trees, picnic tables and 

benches, bridges, rocks and logs to climb, balance or 

sit on, and “vines” for climbing and swinging. 

Other activities include a four-story spiral slide, 

Sky Wheels, log roller and a Stand-N-Spin within 

the playground and all surrounded by an artificially 

created safety surfacing pattern to match the decor. 

The separate toddler area, which includes seating for 

parents, is also stocked with educational bead toys 

and foam blocks for building playhouses, castles and 

whatever their imaginations can dream up. A stage 

encourages kids to let their imaginations run free and 

clear banners overlaid with images of the City let kids 

feel they’re gazing across the City’s roofline.

Great Waves Waterpark 

at Cameron Run 

Regional Park 

Alexandria, VA 

This cool addition to the Great Waves 

Waterpark, the largest play structure of its kind 

in the world, turned the park into a year-round 

destination. 

The play area showcases our most advanced 

building technology methods including 

our exclusive Dura Frame system. More 

importantly, it provides tons of fun, “dry play” 

activities for kids from 2 to 12, including a 

23-foot long Triple Wave Slide and four Spiral 

Slides, one of which corkscrews down from 

the 30-foot climbing tower. A Sit-N-Spin, 

Wobble Hopper, Clean Machine, race car, 

giant Beach Ball and a rock wall, ensure hours 

of entertainment. The separate toddler area 

provides protected play space for smaller kids 

with shaded seating for parents. A grownup-friendly 

climbing space in the center lets 

parents play with their children and gives staff 

easy access for cleaning, maintenance and 

inspection of the equipment.

Faith Chapel Church 

Birmingham, Alabama 

Faith Christian Chapel came to Soft Play with a vision as grand as the 

soaring 15,000-square-foot monolithic dome that would house it--five themed 

playgrounds under one 50-foot roof. The result was one of the most exciting and 

unusual designs Soft Play has ever created. Young congregants can now slide, 

spin, hop, wiggle or bounce, in a rocket ship, Noah’s Ark, a Mediaeval castle, 

a tree house and a Jules Verne-inspired 35-foot slide. There’s a separate area 

where smaller children can play safely without impeding bigger kids’ fun. The 

setting is reminiscent of a park with grass-like surface, trees and even lampposts. 

A great deal of logistical coordination and several installation crews were required 

to meet the 45-day delivery and installation schedule without disrupting work on 

the four adjacent monoliths simultaneously under construction on the campus.
