Theodore Roosevelt National Park – Scenic splendor<br />

in the savagely beautiful North Dakota Badlands, named<br />

for the 26th President of the U.S. Managed by the National<br />

Park Service.<br />

Chateau de Mores – 26 room home of the famous<br />

French marquis who contributed to the colorful history of<br />

the area. Managed by North Dakota State Historical Society.<br />

Guided tours daily.<br />

Medora Musical – 8:30 p.m. nightly performance, May<br />

30-September 6. A professionally produced musical extravaganza<br />

performed in the outdoor splendor of the North<br />

Dakota Badlands.<br />

Medora Doll House – Unique exhibits of antique dolls<br />

and toys, displayed in the historic Von Hoffman House.<br />

Medora Stables – Guided trail rides through the Badlands.<br />

“Bully” the play – acclaimed actor, Timothy Shawn,<br />

presents the life of Theodore Roosevelt in a one act production.<br />

Daily performances at 4 p.m. at the Old Town Hall<br />

Theatre.<br />

Cavalry Colors – Colorful display of western pageantry<br />

as colors are raised and retired at Town Square, 8:30 a.m.<br />

and 6:30 p.m.<br />

Rough Rider Adventures/Dakota Cyclery – Rental<br />

bikes are available to ride developed trails designed for<br />

novice or advanced mountain bikers.<br />

Bully Pulpit Golf Course – Open early April through<br />

late October. A rugged, world-class golf adventure. Bully<br />

Pulpit, surrounded by the dramatic North Dakota Badlands,<br />

conforms to the landscape. Some holes play in meadows<br />

and woodland, while others follow the meandering Little<br />

Missouri river.<br />

North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame – This interpretive<br />

center explores the history of Native Americans, ranching,<br />

rodeo and the western life-style of the northern plains<br />

horse culture and the badlands.<br />

Buggy Rides – Go back to the days before automobiles<br />

on a buggy ride through the downtown streets. Each halfhour<br />

ride has seven seats available and begins across the<br />

street from the TRMF Medora Information Center.<br />

Behind the Scenes – Enhance your Medora Musical<br />

experience with a “Behind the Scenes” tour. Learn about<br />

the amphitheater’s 50-year history and what it takes to create<br />

the “Greatest Show in the West!”<br />

Camping: The Medora Campground, a full service campground,<br />

has been reserved for CANDISC participants.<br />

Chimney Park Cookout: An evening barbecue of burgers<br />

potato chips, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles,<br />

cheese, lemonade and cookies.<br />

Evening Entertainment: The highlight of your visit to<br />

Medora, the Medora Musical, is a lively western-themed<br />

variety show featuring an all-professional cast in a tribute to<br />

our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt. Featuring the Burning<br />

Hills Singers, the Badlands Trail Riders in the famous<br />

charge up San Juan Hill, and headline acts showcasing the<br />

talents of the nation’s top performers, located in the spectacular<br />

multimillion dollar Burning Hills Amphitheater.<br />

Special Note to CANDISC Participants<br />

The 36-mile paved loop road in the South Unit of Theodore<br />

Roosevelt National Park has been called the most scenic<br />

drive in the Midwest. Maps and guides are available from<br />

the National Park Service Visitors Center in Medora.<br />

Harold Schafer Heritage Center – Harold Schafer’s life<br />

and <strong>com</strong>mitment to Medora and North Dakota are wonderfully<br />

displayed in this modern museum. From “Mr. Bubble”<br />

to the Medora Musical, you will discover the life of this<br />

extraordinary individual. The Center also houses the Sheila<br />

Schafer Art Gallery.<br />

Walking Tour-Footsteps Into Medora’s Past – We<br />

invite you to discover the fascinating history of Medora with<br />

“Footsteps into Medora’s Past”, presented by professional<br />

historical interpreters.<br />

Museum Theater - Recollections of Murder and Mayhem<br />

in Medora – This drama takes place in the Billings<br />

County Courthouse Museum. Listen to the testimonies from<br />

both sides dramatizing the conflict between cowboys and<br />

outsiders over land use and barbed wire after the Marquis<br />

de Mores is accused of murder.<br />

Mini Golf– Adjacent to the Badlands Motel, kids of all<br />

ages enjoy putting around unique western hazards. Eighteen<br />

holes await to challenge your golfing skills. It’s fun for<br />

the whole family!
