Outcomes and evidence requirements<br />

Outcome 1<br />

Identify legal rights and obligations relating to owning and operating a motor vehicle.<br />

Evidence requirements<br />

1.1 Legal obligations are identified in terms <strong>of</strong> ownership <strong>of</strong> a motor vehicle.<br />

Range<br />

vehicle licensing, vehicle inspection certificate, safety <strong>of</strong> vehicle.<br />

1.2 Legal obligations are identified in terms <strong>of</strong> motor vehicle operation.<br />

Range<br />

consumption <strong>of</strong> alcohol and/or other drugs, licensed as a driver,<br />

compliance with road rules.<br />

1.3 Legal rights and obligations are identified in relation to road traffic crashes.<br />

Range<br />

driver, owner, Police, witness;<br />

crashes involving – injury, non-injury, damage to property<br />

including animals.<br />

1.4 Consequences for the person in charge <strong>of</strong> a motor vehicle are described in<br />

terms <strong>of</strong> failing to meet legal obligations.<br />

Range<br />

involvement in crashes, hit and run, driving while under the<br />

influence <strong>of</strong> alcohol and/or other drugs, operating an unlicensed<br />

motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a current Vehicle<br />

Safety Inspection Certificate, unlicensed driving, road user<br />

charges <strong>of</strong>fences.<br />

Outcome 2<br />

Describe legal rights, obligations, and protection when purchasing a motor vehicle and<br />

when selling or otherwise disposing <strong>of</strong> a motor vehicle.<br />

Evidence requirements<br />

2.1 A motor vehicle purchaser’s legal protection is described.<br />

Range<br />

stolen vehicles, defective vehicles;<br />

auction, purchase from a licensed motor vehicle dealer, legal<br />

private sale, purchase from an unlicensed dealer.<br />

2.2 Legal obligations are described in terms <strong>of</strong> selling or otherwise disposing <strong>of</strong> a<br />

motor vehicle.<br />
