Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Identify legal rights and obligations relating to owning and operating a motor vehicle.
Evidence requirements
1.1 Legal obligations are identified in terms of ownership of a motor vehicle.
Range
vehicle licensing, vehicle inspection certificate, safety of vehicle.
1.2 Legal obligations are identified in terms of motor vehicle operation.
Range
consumption of alcohol and/or other drugs, licensed as a driver,
compliance with road rules.
1.3 Legal rights and obligations are identified in relation to road traffic crashes.
Range
driver, owner, Police, witness;
crashes involving – injury, non-injury, damage to property
including animals.
1.4 Consequences for the person in charge of a motor vehicle are described in
terms of failing to meet legal obligations.
Range
involvement in crashes, hit and run, driving while under the
influence of alcohol and/or other drugs, operating an unlicensed
motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a current Vehicle
Safety Inspection Certificate, unlicensed driving, road user
charges offences.
Outcome 2
Describe legal rights, obligations, and protection when purchasing a motor vehicle and
when selling or otherwise disposing of a motor vehicle.
Evidence requirements
2.1 A motor vehicle purchaser’s legal protection is described.
Range
stolen vehicles, defective vehicles;
auction, purchase from a licensed motor vehicle dealer, legal
private sale, purchase from an unlicensed dealer.
2.2 Legal obligations are described in terms of selling or otherwise disposing of a
motor vehicle.
