Brainerd Bridget Allen, Respite Coordinator, Lutheran Social Service Caregiver Support & Respite Program Bridget currently provides support services to family caregivers in Crow Wing, Cass, Todd, and Wadena counties in the form of counseling, support groups, educational forums, referral, and respite care performed by volunteers. She has been in the position for over six years. Prior to that, she has done volunteer coordination in a variety of settings. She is a licensed social worker with a Social Work (B.S.) degree from Minnesota State University- Mankato. Also, she has taken education classes with the University of Wisconsin- Superior Distance Learning program. She volunteers in her church and in her local orchestra. Karl Samp, Consultant, Karl Samp Consulting Services Karl currently runs his own consulting business, assisting organizations with strategic planning, group facilitation, training, and other services (www.karlsamp.com). He works at CLC by helping faculty infuse volunteerism into their curriculum and finding volunteer opportunities for students and student organizations. He gained experience in volunteerism from previous positions as a Vice President of programs at a foundation, where he helped develop curriculum and lead training for various community based coalitions. Karl volunteers on his county’s HRA, a statewide legislative commission, Kiwanis International, and numerous projects in the Brainerd area. Karl has BS degrees in Recreation/Park Administration/Community Education and Geography from Minnesota State-Mankato. Laura Beilke, Executive Director, Youth As Resources Marta Mersereau, Brainerd Branch Manager, Kitchigami Regional Library Nancy Cross, Executive Director, Brainerd Community Action Stephanie Haider, Director of Volunteer Services, Lakes Area Restorative Justice Project Crookston Deanna Patenaude, Director, RSVP of Red River Valley Duluth Cameron Kruger, Training and Technical Assistance Program Manager, Lake Superior Initiative Cameron handles logistics for the True North AmeriCorps Program, a 73 member national service corps in Northeastern Minnesota. He is also the founding consultant for Horizon Nonprofit Solutions, which provides evaluation and training on innovative technology, youth leadership, and other topics important to community agencies. Cameron has facilitated workshops at numerous conferences, including the National Service-Learning Conference and SYNERGY for Youth. He holds a degree in Supervisory Management and has been certified in organizational leadership, quality improvement, and volunteer management.
Elizabeth Ellis, Membership and Outreach Specialist, Girl Scouts of MN and WI Lakes and Pines Elizabeth Ellis currently serves at Membership and Outreach Specialist for the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines, providing volunteer management and community partnership development in Wisconsin Counties surrounding the Southern shores of Lake Superior. Elizabeths formal education includes a self designed B.A. in Non-profit Administration and Resource Development and Mini MBA in Nonprofit Organization from St. Thomas University. She has worked for more than 15 years in community partnership development, volunteer program design and management in both the local and national non-profit sectors including the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Girls Scouts of Greater Minneapolis, Face to Face Health and Counseling Services and the YWCA of St. Paul. Elizabeth is the proud recipient of the 2008 Mary Wiser Award for Excellence in Volunteer Administration. Leslie Perrett, Coordinator of Volunteer Services, Lutheran Social Services Duluth Leslie currently coordinates volunteer services for the LSS programs serving the greater Duluth area. Her work experience includes coordinating training for licensed child care providers through St, Louis County Arrowhead Child Care and Referral serving the seven Arrowhead counties with AmeriCorps ACT Action for Children Today and Director of Youth and Education at Glen Avon Presbyterian, Leslie coordinated volunteers for many community and school based programs, provided training, and facilitated groups including Volunteer Parental Involvement Coordinator at Cobb and Homecroft Elementary and Woodland Middle School. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and Communication from Concordia University Sarah Butler, Coordinator, True North Volunteer Center Sarah currently coordinates the volunteer center in Duluth, which is apart of the Hands On Network. She began her career in volunteer management as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the Park Avenue Foundation in South Minneapolis. She gained experience at the Arthritis Foundation North Central Chapter in St. Paul. She completed her Mini-MBA in Volunteer Management from the University of St. Thomas, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University. Fargo/Moorhead Deb Kluck, Volunteer Services Manager, Hospice of the Red River Valley Deb currently manages the volunteer program with Hospice of the Red River Valley (HRRV). The office is headquartered in Fargo, North Dakota with regional offices located in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Grand Forks, Mayville, Valley City, Lisbon in North Dakota. Deb has worked in volunteer leadership roles since 1980. She has a BS from North Dakota State University. In 1996, Deb was named YWCA Woman of the Year in the Professional category and has reached the Able and Certified Toastmaster levels in Toastmasters International. In 2004, she was named the Director of Volunteer Services from the local Fargo-Moorhead DOVS Central Minnesota Trainers organization.
