Frequently asked questions:
When can I sign up
Registration for classes is taken until one business day
before the first day of class if space is still available in a
class. Since many of the classes fill up quickly, we
encourage you to sign up early.
When do I pay my registration fee
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Registration and payment should be made to guarantee
your place in class. For your convenience, we accept
check, credit card or cash. If paying by check, make
check payable to ASUMH. For a credit card payment, we
will need your card number, expiration date, and 3-digit
card identification data. Please have the exact amount if
paying in cash.
Where do classes meet
Most classes meet on the campus of Arkansas State
University Mountain Home, 1600 South College Street,
Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653. Advertising flyers
include the building and room number for each class. If
you need directions, call us at 870-508-6106.

Where is your office located and what are the hours
The Center for Workforce and Continuing Education is
located on the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home
campus in the First National Hall, Room F210. Our office
hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
How do I drop a class
At least one day before the class begins, give us a call at 870
-508-6106.
What is ASUMH’s refund policy for Continuing
Education classes
If you withdraw before the class starts, your money will be
fully refunded.
My class was cancelled after I registered. Why
Sometimes classes are cancelled due to low enrollment. We
are sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. Be sure to
confirm your classes before the start date.

BEGINNING FLY FISHING
This course will be taught by John Berry and Lori Sloas, a local
husband/wife team of professional guides with over twenty-five
years of experience in guiding and fly fishing instruction.
The course is structured for the beginner or novice angler. It is
designed to develop confidence on stream and covers all of the
basic skills necessary for success. Learn basic fly casting
instruction, equipment selection and water safety, reading the
water, stream entomology and fly selection, knot tying and
fishing techniques.

Instructor: Clifford Liu
The ancient art of Tai Chi uses gently flowing movements to
reduce the stress of today’s busy lifestyles and improve health.
The focus is on movement and breathing. Students report
improvement in blood pressure measurements and improved
coordination. Tai Chi strengthens muscles, improves joint
mobility, reduces stress, increases range of motion and improves
flexibility. This class is held at Cooper Park.

The following class is

CONCEALED HANDGUN
Instructor: Dan Hall (AR State Police Instructor #98-353) is a
retired county judge who served in supervisory and training roles
in law enforcement in several states. He possesses the Senior
Law Enforcement Certification & Firearms Instructor Certification
from the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and
Training and the Advanced Certification from California
Department of Justice
Upon completion of this course, you will have a completed
package ready to send to the Arkansas State Police to procure a
concealed handgun permit. Students will be taught self-defense
and the law, handgun fundamentals, and must demonstrate
marksmanship and accuracy with handguns.
Arkansas has reciprocity with more than thirty states in which
permits are honored. A complete list of states which honor the
Arkansas license will be provided. Ninety-day Arkansas residency
required.
*Course fully satisfies the requirements for concealed handgun
endorsement in Missouri per MO Statute 571.111(2).

The Center for Workforce and Continuing Education at ASU–
Mountain Home and ed2go are pleased to announce that over 40
online Teacher Professional Development Courses were approved
by the Arkansas Department of Education. Teachers can receive
professional development credit when the course is completed.
Online Continuing Education courses run for six weeks (with a 10-
day extension period available at the end). Courses are projectoriented
