Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters<br />
December 8, <strong>2012</strong> to January 4, 2013<br />
Twenty members of the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air<br />
Painters will exhibit at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. <strong>The</strong> free public<br />
reception is Saturday, December 8th from 1 to 3 pm. All<br />
paintings were created at various locations in Central<br />
Pennsylvania, as well as other areas of interest. <strong>The</strong><br />
group focuses on “plein air” painting or created outside,<br />
on location. <strong>The</strong>se paintings often have an Impressionistic<br />
painterly quality to the work.<br />

<strong>2012</strong> Member Show<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Center</strong>'s annual Member Show was held July 13th<br />
to August 10th. <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Instructor Laura Shambaugh,<br />
who served as Juror of Awards, considered the following<br />
when judging the exhibit:<br />
• Overall originality/uniqueness - how the piece/image<br />
was made their own.<br />
• Craftsmanship of the media used.<br />
• Composition/movement.<br />
• Did it reward the viewer from a distance <strong>and</strong> also when<br />
viewed up close Does it keep the viewer's interest<br />
• How successful did the piece convey the concept or<br />
meaning if there was one<br />
