Members Receive Awards in Annual Exhibition<br />

“Peoples, Places, <strong>and</strong> Pets” were on exhibit June 12 to July 23 at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. Fifty-Four entries<br />

included paintings created in pastels, acrylics, watercolor <strong>and</strong> oil; scupltures <strong>and</strong> woodcarvings; photography;<br />

<strong>and</strong> mixed media. A picinic reception was held Saturday, June 12th. We thank Rose Anderson for<br />

the use of her gas grill <strong>and</strong> Leroy Shiebley for being our grill master for the evening.<br />

<strong>The</strong> following members received awards for their entries:<br />

Juror of Awards for the exhibit was Jonathan Frazier. Jonathan grew up in Dillsburg, PA, <strong>and</strong> was<br />

accepted into the Harrisburg <strong>Art</strong>s Maganet <strong>School</strong> his senior year. He went on to study at the<br />

Maryl<strong>and</strong> Institute, College of <strong>Art</strong>, then to Kutztown University where he received his BFA.<br />

He is the youngest member of the Seven Lively <strong>Art</strong>ists <strong>and</strong> was part of their 50 year retrospective<br />

exhibition at the Cumberl<strong>and</strong> County Historical Society. He showed with them again in the Summer of<br />

2010 at the Cape Cod Museum of <strong>Art</strong> <strong>and</strong> the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence.<br />

His work has been exhibited at Gallery 30 in Gettysburg, F.A.N. Gallery in Philadelphia, the <strong>Art</strong><br />

Association of Harrisburg, Gallery Blu, City <strong>Art</strong> Gallery in York, <strong>and</strong> many others. He recently enjoyed<br />

international exposure when one of his Cape Cod paintings was published in the June/July 2009 issue of<br />

“International <strong>Art</strong>ist” as a finalist in a world-wide competition.<br />

His Skyline series was recently selected for solo exhibitions at the Montpelier <strong>Art</strong>s <strong>Center</strong> near<br />

Richmond, VA in August of 2011 <strong>and</strong> the Delaplaine Visual <strong>Art</strong> Education <strong>Center</strong> in Frederick, MD in<br />

December of 2011.<br />

Linda Young’s work titled “Angels Among Us” has been selected for the first annual United<br />

Way of Pennsylvania Fine <strong>Art</strong> <strong>and</strong> Photography Exhibit: Collage of a Commonwealth. <strong>The</strong> exhibit<br />

will travel around the Commonwealth; dates, times <strong>and</strong> opening reception to be announced<br />

soon.<br />

Paul Saberin won “Best of Show” for his sculpture “Totem” at the <strong>Art</strong> Association of Harrisburg’s<br />

82nd Annual International Juried Exhibition. <strong>The</strong> show runs May 15 through June 17.<br />

2010 Golf Outing<br />

Report<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Center</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Galleries</strong> hosted<br />

a benefit Golf Outing Friday, June 18th at<br />

Eagles Crossing Golf Course in Carlisle. It had<br />

a shotgun start, with a scramble format. Thirtytwo<br />

golfers participated in the 3rd outing hosted<br />

by our organization. <strong>The</strong> outing netted <strong>The</strong> <strong>Art</strong><br />

<strong>Center</strong> $2,244.<br />
