February 2008 to present
• Project Manager for an internal R&D project on Privacy-preserving Viewer
Sentiment Extraction that started in April 2010. Leading a team of 8 staff to
(i) develop a system that can understand sentiments of TV viewers based on
audio-visual analysis without compromising on viewer privacy and
(ii) develop a privacy-preserving audience measurement solution for IPTV
systems.
• Worked on biometric cryptosystems and soft biometrics (gender & age
recognition) as part of a project on Personalization Using Biometrics –
applications include secure mobile-commerce and personalized television
content recommendation
Summer Intern
NEC Laboratories America, Inc., Princeton, New Jersey
Large Scale Integrated Systems Department
May 2005 to September 2005
• Worked on voice-based user authentication for securing embedded systems;
developed a novel speaker adaptive mechanism for training phoneme specific
Gaussian mixture models in the context of text-prompted speaker
authentication. This technology is now patented in the US
Summer Intern
• Score level fusion in multibiometric systems: worked on identifying robust and
efficient techniques for normalizing the scores of different biometric matchers
prior to fusion; developed a likelihood ratio-based fusion framework for score
level fusion; the framework can also be applied for quality-based fusion of
biometric matchers.
that can complement the minutiae-based matchers; worked on the fusion of
multiple fingerprint matching algorithms at the score level
• Secure biometric authentication: developed a fully automatic implementation
of a fingerprint-based fuzzy vault system; helper data derived from the
fingerprint orientation field was used for alignment; current work includes the
development of a feature level fusion framework for a multibiometric vault
• Soft biometrics: demonstrated the feasibility of utilizing soft biometric traits
such as height, ethnicity and gender to improve the recognition performance
of a primary (e.g., fingerprint and face) biometric system; developed a
Bayesian framework for fusion of primary and soft biometric information
