The Royal Alexandra Hospital is a busy District General Hospital situated 9 miles west of Glasgow. We are close to an
international airport and have excellent motorway links with attractive rural and coastal scenery within 15 minutes drive. We are
one of the busiest Trauma units in Scotland and have all major Orthopaedic subspecialties on site. The terms and conditions of
service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and each post is offered on a 10 Programmed
Activity basis, although opportunities may exist for extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements. Applications

service for the Clyde sector. The microbiology departments in NHSGGC provide an integrated diagnostic microbiology & virology
service to the population of Glasgow and Clyde, including the Primary Care Division. This service includes a full range of
diagnostic bacteriology, serology, chlamydia detection, and mycology culture. The microbiologists have close working

The Central Decontamination Unit requires individuals with good communication skills and an ability to work effectively within a
team in a fast paced and challenging environment. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday Evenings 4 pm to 8 pm and will include
working public holidays. Shift patterns may change to meet the demands of the service. It will be a requirement to become
multi-skilled in all areas of decontamination in order to satisfy all the requirements of the post. Once fully trained in all the areas
of decontamination, staff will be rostered in such a way as to rotate through the various areas on a regular basis. The core
activity of a decontamination unit is the decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilisation of re-useable medical devices.
You will be required to undertake all tasks appropriate to the grade of Assistant Technical Officer throughout the following areas
of the Sterile Services Department; Decontamination, Assembly/Check/Packaging, Sterilization. Although this post is primarily
based at the Central Decontamination Unit there may be a requirement to provide cover over all Decontamination sites within
NHSGG&C. Experience is desirable however you will undertake a 6 month basic training period, with training taking place
