The Beatson West of Scotl<strong>and</strong> Cancer Centre is the non-surgical specialist cancer centre for the West of Scotl<strong>and</strong>, serving a<br />

population of 2.6 million. Situated on the Gartnavel General Hospital site, it is a new, state of the art, £118 million facility. In 2010,<br />

<strong>NHS</strong> <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Clyde</strong> opened the New Victoria Hospital on the South side of <strong>Glasgow</strong> to complement the delivery of<br />

systemic cancer therapies locally. We are looking to appoint a Locum Specialty Doctor in Oncology who will participate in the<br />

work of our tumour site-specific teams. This diversity of role will create interesting opportunities for the successful applicant who<br />

may have or wish to develop special interests in the clinical management of cancer. The centre also has a very active research<br />

programme <strong>and</strong> participation in this will be encouraged. The primary responsibilities of the post are for the care of day patients<br />

receiving chemotherapy <strong>and</strong> supportive therapies, both in the Beatson Centre but also in the New Victoria Hospital. The patients<br />

in your care will be under the management of a variety of Consultants, <strong>and</strong> you will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists,<br />

Chemotherapy Nurses, Phlebotomists <strong>and</strong> Pharmacy staff to form an efficient team for the safe administration of chemotherapy;<br />

<strong>Clyde</strong>. A Consultant Clinical Psychologist is required to provide the lead role in regard to research activity within the psychology<br />

department of the Directorate of Forensic Mental Health <strong>and</strong> Learning Disabilities <strong>and</strong> to evaluate the effectiveness of<br />

psychological therapies being delivered within the Directorate. You will also be required to provide a high quality specialist clinical<br />

<strong>and</strong> forensic psychology service to male mental disorder patients accommodated in the low secure wards at Leverndale Hospital.<br />

This will include contributing to the management of the psychology resource attached to the service. The work entails delivering<br />

clinical <strong>and</strong> forensic psychological assessments <strong>and</strong> interventions <strong>and</strong> providing supervision, training <strong>and</strong> consultancy to other<br />

staff. You will also be expected to contribute to initiatives within the department, the Directorate <strong>and</strong> the wider Forensic Network<br />

in Scotl<strong>and</strong>. Occasional travel to various locations in Scotl<strong>and</strong> may be required, for example, to assess referrals to the service.<br />

You should have Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as<br />

accredited by the BPS or HPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics <strong>and</strong> neuropsychology,<br />

two or more distinct psychological therapies <strong>and</strong> lifespan developmental psychology. Post-doctoral training in additional<br />

The Assisted Conception Service (ACS) unit offers a full range of laboratory diagnostic <strong>and</strong> assisted conception services with a<br />

current capacity of 1000 cycles of IVF/ICSI per annum. In addition to this the ACS runs the national PGD service for Scotl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

You would be expected to contribute to all aspects of laboratory activity including IVF/ICSI & PGD <strong>and</strong> also take a lead role in<br />

managing the laboratory donor sperm programme. The Centre operates an active research <strong>and</strong> development programme, with<br />

current work including embryonic stem cell derivation in collaboration with Roslin Cells <strong>and</strong> non invasive testing of embryo<br />

metabolism. Suitable applicants will also have the opportunity to contribute to this progressive research programme. Applicants<br />

applying for the role at B<strong>and</strong> 7 level require a First Class or Upper Second Class degree in a Life science or equivalent<br />

qualification, <strong>and</strong> registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC). In addition, you will have significant experience in<br />

Clinical Embryology including ICSI skills. Possession of the ACE Post Graduate Certificate is desirable. An Embryo biopsy<br />

licence would also be an advantage but not essential as training can be provided. Applicants at pre-registration level are also<br />

encouraged to apply, though as a trainee would be appointed at B<strong>and</strong> 6 level. Upon successfully gaining the required<br />

competencies over an agreed time period, progression to B<strong>and</strong> 7 would be expected. This post requires PVG Scheme<br />
