Applications are invited for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, primarily based at the Royal Alex<strong>and</strong>ra Hospital, Paisley. This is a<br />
newly created post. The successful c<strong>and</strong>idate will join 10 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Royal Alex<strong>and</strong>ra Hospital. We<br />
are seeking a suitably qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in Trauma <strong>and</strong> who has a sub-specialist interest in Lower<br />
Limb Arthroplasty, Foot <strong>and</strong> Ankle surgery or an interest to complement the department. The successful c<strong>and</strong>idate will initially<br />
participate in the on-call Orthopaedic rota of 1:9 for out-of-hours cover including weekends at the Royal Alex<strong>and</strong>ra Hospital. They<br />
will also provide 2 days of clinics at Lorn Hospital, Oban on a rota comprising 4 visits per annum i.e. 8 days in total per annum.<br />
The Royal Alex<strong>and</strong>ra Hospital is a busy District General Hospital situated 9 miles west of <strong>Glasgow</strong>. We are close to an<br />
international airport <strong>and</strong> have excellent motorway links with attractive rural <strong>and</strong> coastal scenery within 15 minutes drive. We are<br />
one of the busiest Trauma units in Scotl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> have all major Orthopaedic subspecialties on site. The terms <strong>and</strong> conditions of<br />
service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotl<strong>and</strong>) 2004 <strong>and</strong> each post is offered on a 10 Programmed<br />
Activity basis, although opportunities may exist for extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements. Applications<br />
from individuals who may wish to work on a part time or job-share basis will be considered. Applicants will be appropriately<br />
experienced, with full GMC registration <strong>and</strong> be on the GMC's Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence<br />
of Higher Specialist Training leading to CCT, or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non UK<br />

is a New post. The successful c<strong>and</strong>idate will join 5 other Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Inverclyde Royal Hospital. We<br />
are seeking a suitably qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in Trauma <strong>and</strong> who has a sub-specialist interest in Foot<br />
<strong>and</strong> Ankle/ Lower Limb Arthroplasty. The successful c<strong>and</strong>idate will initially participate in the on-call Orthopaedic rota of 1:6 for<br />
out-of-hours cover including weekends at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Elective theatre sessions are available at IRH <strong>and</strong> also at<br />
the Vale of Leven Hospital, about twenty miles away with a 5 day ward facility. The terms <strong>and</strong> conditions of service are those<br />
determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotl<strong>and</strong>) 2004 <strong>and</strong> each post is offered on a 10 Programmed Activity basis,<br />

The opportunity has arisen within <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Clyde</strong> for a substantive Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest<br />
in spinal surgery. The applicant will be expected to cover the full range of spinal workload that the health board area dem<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
At present there are spinal surgeons based in the Western Infirmary, <strong>Glasgow</strong> Royal Infirmary <strong>and</strong> the Royal Alex<strong>and</strong>ra Hospital.<br />
This post is part of an expansion of the spinal service in order to meet high levels of dem<strong>and</strong>. While primarily based at the<br />
Western Infirmary, this spinal service will cover the entire board area <strong>and</strong> may require clinical sessions on other hospital sites.<br />

<strong>NHS</strong> <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong> & <strong>Clyde</strong> (<strong>NHS</strong>GGC) are seeking the full time appointment of a part time Consultant Microbiologist based<br />
initially at the Royal Alex<strong>and</strong>ra Hospital. The postholder will join 4 other consultants in providing a proactive clinical microbiology<br />
service for the <strong>Clyde</strong> sector. The microbiology departments in <strong>NHS</strong>GGC provide an integrated diagnostic microbiology & virology<br />
service to the population of <strong>Glasgow</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Clyde</strong>, including the Primary Care Division. This service includes a full range of<br />
diagnostic bacteriology, serology, chlamydia detection, <strong>and</strong> mycology culture. The microbiologists have close working<br />
relationships with other clinical colleagues, with infection control having a high priority. Applications are invited from medical<br />
microbiologists with relevant skills <strong>and</strong> experience who have full GMC registration <strong>and</strong> are listed in the GMC's specialist register<br />
