• Weak upper-level winds aloft.<br />

Extratropical Cyclones<br />

• Low pressure center colder than<br />

surroundings (Cold-Core Low).<br />

• Develop in areas of temperature<br />

gradients between differing air masses.<br />

• Asymmetrical Shape<br />

• Strong upper-level winds critical in<br />

development and intensification.
