Homework
Homework (problems on the syllabus for the previous week of classes) will be collected every
Tuesday in the beginning of the class. For each homework, you will be assigned a grade
of GOOD (homework is satisfactory), POOR (homework submitted, but not satisfactory, or
submitted up to 24 hours late) or NONE (homework not submitted, or submitted more than
24 hours after the deadline). If several of your homework assignments are rated POOR or
NONE, your final grade may be lowered by up to one grade point. You are encouraged to
come and see me during my office hours. I will gladly provide help on particular problems,
provided that you genuinely attempted to solve them.
Quizzes
There will be a short quiz every Tuesday at the end of the class, except on February 16, April
6 and April 27. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.
Exams
There will be two in-class midterms on February 16 and April 6, and a comprehensive final
examination on May 6 3-5pm. No alternate final exam will be given.
class. Office hours will not be used for this purpose.
Make-up policy
Make-up tests will only be given in exceptional circumstances – excused absence as defined by
the University catalog. In such cases, you must provide a valid reason for your absence and
must normally notify me in advance. The final examination will be given on Thursday, May
6, 3-5pm. No alternative final examination is scheduled.
Accommodation procedure
building must be evacuated, or has emergency medical information that needs to be shared
(2-4705) provides services for students with disabilities. Specific accommodations can be
made for students with either physical disabilities or learning disabilities. Upon receiving appropriate
documentation from the student, the Opportunity Development Center will make
