Thiagarajar College of Engineering is one<br />

among the several educational, industrial and<br />

philanthropic institutions founded by<br />

Late. Thiru Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. This 50<br />

year old Institution is a Government Aided<br />

Autonomous Institution, accredited and approved by<br />

the All India Council for Technical Education and<br />

affiliated to Anna University. The college offers 9<br />

Undergraduate, 11 Post graduate and research<br />

programs leading to PhD degree in Engineering and<br />

Science disciplines. A Centre for Relevance and<br />

Excellence (CORE) in WIRELESS<br />

TECHNOLOGIES has been established through<br />

TIFAC (Technology, Information, Forecasting and<br />

Assessment Council) under Mission REACH<br />

Programme of Department of Science and<br />

Technology, Govt of India.TIFAC CORE<br />

amalgamates the three key pillars for economic<br />

growth- the industry, the Government and the<br />

Educational Institutions.<br />

Department:<br />

The FIST supported Electronics and<br />

Communication Engineering Department has<br />

laboratory facilities in the areas of RF, Digital Signal<br />

Processing, VLSI, Embedded systems, Medical<br />

electronics, Optical Communication, Networking,<br />

Remote Sensing & Digital Image Processing, which<br />

have been established from Central and State<br />

Government and Management funds. The<br />

Department has the privilege of having done/ doing<br />

R&D projects from DRDL, DEAL, RCI, ISRO, and<br />

DSTand AICTE. The Department has Collaboration<br />

with Honeywell, Motorola, CISCO, TVS<br />

Interconnects, and National Instruments. BE ECE<br />

course has been awarded 5 years accreditation during<br />

2006 by NBA.<br />

Course:<br />

Empire is a versatile 3D Electromagnetic Field<br />

simulator developed by IMST, Germany,<br />

established by Prof. Ingo Wolff, Life fellow of IEEE<br />

Microwave Theory & Techniques. This course would<br />

provide the necessary hands on experience for using<br />

EMPIRE 3D, Electromagnetic Field Simulator for<br />

specific subsystems like Radiators, Waveguides and<br />

MICs.<br />

Hands-on Session using Empire 3D simulator for<br />

• RF Transmission lines<br />

• RF passive devices<br />

• Wireless Antennas<br />

• Waveguide Antennas<br />

• Multilayer via model<br />
