2000 film, screenplay by Brian
Wayne Peterson, story by its
director Jamie Babbit (a comedy
about a young girl whose misadventures
in a “sexual orientation
camp” lead her to discover and
embrace her true self).
On Thursday, April 14, The BMI-
Lehman Engel Musical Theatre
Workshop offered its fourth Master
Class (the second of the season) in
the third floor Media Room. Librettist
Thomas Meehan (Annie, Annie
Warbucks, The Producers, Hairspray,
Bombay Dreams) and musical director/dance
arranger/vocal arranger
Peter Howard (Hello Dolly!, 1776,
The Grand Tour, Chicago, The Tap
Dance Kid, Crazy for You, among others)
comprised the panel invited to
comment on the work of two selected
Advance class writing units. As
usual, committee member David
Spencer served as moderator.
The two shows represented by 25
minute excerpts were Wanda’s
World, music and lyrics by Beth
Falcone, book by visiting collaborator
Erich Weinberger (an original
for family audiences, currently in
development for a full production);
