Mark T. <strong>Skinner</strong> Local School Council<br />

Meeting <strong>Minutes</strong>—September 25, 2012<br />

The September 25, 2012, meeting of Mark T. <strong>Skinner</strong> <strong>West</strong> Local School Council was<br />

called to order at 6:48 PM by Mr. Michael McMurray. Present were LSC members<br />

Deborah Clark, James Glenn, Sheila Howard, Michael McMurray, Donna McSpadden,<br />

Ramel Werner, and Stephanie Majca as well as 11 <strong>Skinner</strong> parents, staff, and community<br />

members.<br />

The agenda was briefly reviewed. Mrs. Clark asked to amend agenda to introduce<br />

new teachers. Mr. Werner moved that the agenda be amended and approved. This was<br />

seconded by Mr. Glenn and approved.<br />

The minutes for the July meeting were briefly reviewed. Ms. Majca to amend Mr.<br />

Glenn’s name in minutes, spelling error. Mr. Glynn moved that the July minutes be<br />

approved as amended. This was seconded by Ms. Howard and approved.<br />

Forum Treasurer Stephanie Majca reported briefly on the July 2012 meeting.<br />

Mrs. Clark reported briefly on the status of Friends of <strong>Skinner</strong> <strong>West</strong>.<br />

<strong>West</strong> Loop Community news, there was no report.<br />

Chairman Report – no report Mr. Gaute Grindheim not present.<br />

Principal Clark then gave her report (attached).<br />

Other committees then offered their reports:<br />

PPLC—did not meet<br />

LRE/Special Education—Chair Ramel Werner reported that<br />

the Committee met however no official report<br />

School Improvement—did not meet<br />

Facility Services—Mrs. Clark reported that <strong>CPS</strong> is willing to<br />

work with <strong>Skinner</strong> on the space concern.<br />

Communications—Ms. Price-Childs reported that they have<br />

sent several communication emails, daily during strike in<br />

addition to weekly newsblast.<br />

LSC Advisory Board—did not meet<br />

There was no Old Business.<br />

New Business –


Mark T. <strong>Skinner</strong> Local School Council<br />

Meeting <strong>Minutes</strong>—September 25, 2012<br />

LSC Openings – one parent rep and one community rep position open.<br />

Parent rep – applications due 10/11 and voting at next meeting 10/16.<br />

Community Rep – will open after 10/16 meeting, applications due 11/15 for<br />

voting at 11/20 meeting.<br />

Reallocation of Budget Funds – Paul Howards position has been eliminated,<br />

audit in place to see if position can be reinstated. Will have more info at<br />

10/16 meeting.<br />

Motion to transfer $11,000 for social emotional funds to use towards a<br />

teacher position for 2 nd grade and as needed in classrooms.<br />

Mr. Glenn motioned to transfer $11,000 from Social Emotional to<br />

Intervention teacher at 2 nd grade level. This was seconded by Mr. Werner<br />

and approved.<br />

At 8:40PM, Ms. Majca moved to adjourn the September 25, 2012, meeting of the<br />

Mark T. <strong>Skinner</strong> Local School Council. This was seconded by Mr. Glenn and<br />

approved.<br />

<strong>Skinner</strong>’s next LSC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, at 6:30PM<br />
