Respondent null and void ab initio ) is dismissed.<br />

[1] This appeal concerns the interpretation of s 7( 6) of the Recognition of<br />
Customary Marriages Act 1 (the Act). The section regulates the proprietary<br />
consequences of a <strong>customary</strong> marriage in circumstanc es where the husband<br />
