RESEACH EXPERIENCE
University of Florida with Prof. Dr. C. R. Bowers, Gainesville, FL, 2003 – 2009.
Research focused on elucidating the anesthetic-membrane interaction using gaseous and
solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) techniques. Partitioning behavior and
interfacial dynamics were of particular interest.
University of Michigan with Prof. Dr. A. Ramamoorthy, Ann Arbor, MI, 2000 – 2003.
Investigated the effect of myelin basic protein (MBP) on mechanically aligned phospholipid
bilayers by solid-state NMR. Protein extraction and purification techniques were utilized to
extract MBP from white matter in bovine brain.
National Institute on Aging, Baltimore, MD, summer 1999.
Internship at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Science, monitored drug response of
myocardial cells in hypertensive rats via electron microscopy.
Penn State University & NASA Wallops Flight Facility, University Park, PA, 1998.
Participated in a collaborative project between universities to launch a rocket payload to
measure mesospheric temperature using numerous techniques, simultaneously.
