Congratulations Kendri Cesar
Please join Central Council in congratulating Ms. Kendri Cesar who finished and
passed the Alaska Bar exam and can now practice law in the State of Alaska.
Kendri is a member of the Kaach.ádi clan, and a child of the Lukaax.ádi clan. She is
the daughter of Ken Cesar and Jackie Dailey of Juneau, Alaska.
Kendri is a 2004 graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School where she not only excelled
academically but was also an outstanding basketball player and a four-year starter in
soccer cumulating in a State championship during her senior year. In 2008, Kendri

graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in Environmental Studies and a
minor in Arabic Language/Literature; she then attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 2012.
Kendri will begin working for Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Endreson & Perry, LLP, which is a national law firm
devoted to representing Native American interests in a variety of legal areas, with offices in Juneau, Anchorage,
Washington D.C., San Diego, and Albuquerque. Way to go Kendri! You are a shining role model for our Native
youth!

The Finance Department is pleased to announce that two of their staff, Pauline Walters and Laura Jim, received
their Occupational Endorsements as Accountants on May 5, 2013 from the University of Alaska Southeast.
Pauline serves the department as a Budget Accountant and Laura is the Payroll and Benefits Accountant.
Pauline has been with the
Finance Department for
over nine years. As Budget
Accountant, she oversees
the accounts payable staff.
Pauline is Raven/Dog
Salmon. She is the daughter
of Darrell and Christina
(Sharp) Smith of Juneau,
Alaska and the late
Pauline Walters
Peter Howe of Kingston,
Washington. She is married
to John Walters and has three children, Laura May,
Timothy and Amanda.
This achievement is the first of several goals Pauline
has for her education. She plans to continue college
this summer and intends to graduate with her
Accounting Technician Certificate this fall, followed
by her A.A.S in Business Administration next
spring. Pauline’s long-term goal is to graduate with
her Bachelor of Business Administration with an
emphasis in Accounting by the fall of 2015.
Laura is Tlingit, Aleut,
Yeil Tak’dein’taan (Raven/
Sea Pigeon) of the Snail
House of Hoonah and
Woosh-kee-taan Yedi. She
is the daughter of Teresa
Germain-Reyes of Juneau,
Alaska and the late Robert
Lynn Poe of Seward, Alaska.
She is married to Joseph
Randal Jim and they have
Laura Jim
three children, Valarie Mae
Skelton, Kaden Dean Jim and Jaxin Ryker Jim.
Laura achieved her Accounting Technician
Certification in May 2009 and Associates of Applied
Science in May 2012.
“It is my next goal to graduate from UAS with a
Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis
in Accounting in December 2014,” said Laura.
“Education is the key to furthering your career and
knowledge. Continuing my education has been a long
process but it’s something I encourage everyone to do,
it really is never too late to further your education!”
