UNCG <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> Consumer, <strong>Apparel</strong>, & Retail Studies<br />

The <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> Consumer, <strong>Apparel</strong>, <strong>and</strong> Retail Studies <strong>of</strong>fers students both an<br />

education <strong>and</strong> the foundation from which to launch a global career in areas such as<br />

apparel design <strong>and</strong> production, sourcing, retailing, marketing, <strong>and</strong> distribution. Students<br />

study, work as interns <strong>and</strong> interact with major corporations as part <strong>of</strong> the educational<br />

experience. Short-term domestic study trips, the opportunity to study abroad <strong>and</strong> the<br />

infusion <strong>of</strong> global competencies throughout the curriculum prepare students to compete<br />

in the global work environment. CARS is a student-centered department committed to<br />

preparing pr<strong>of</strong>essionals for success in the apparel <strong>and</strong> retailing industries.<br />

Undergraduate<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Consumer, <strong>Apparel</strong>, <strong>and</strong> Retail Studies with two concentrations:<br />

• <strong>Apparel</strong> Product Design – prepares students for careers in apparel design<br />

<strong>and</strong> production.<br />

• Retailing <strong>and</strong> Consumer Studies – prepares students for careers in<br />

apparel marketing, distribution, <strong>and</strong> retailing.<br />

Graduate<br />

•36-39 hour non-thesis tracks<br />
