Conference! We have done our best to plan the conference to meet<br />
the needs of our members and advisors. If you have suggestions<br />
for improvement, we hope you will note them on the conference<br />

General Information<br />
Lost and found items can be dropped off at the conference<br />
headquarters room, located in the Executive Board Room.<br />
Hotel security and staff has been made aware of the curfew<br />
times for the conference. Be sure you follow this so that you<br />
have plenty of energy for the conference sessions. Please be<br />
considerate of your fellow hotel guests.<br />
Please refrain from taking pictures during the general<br />
sessions. <strong>Program</strong> participants will remain near the stage area<br />
following sessions for photos, if desired.<br />
Please turn off or silence all cell phones during the<br />
general sessions, STAR Events or conference workshops. We<br />
appreciate your respectful attention to the session presenters.<br />
Keep conversations to a minimum during sessions and<br />
workshops and do not enter a workshop late or leave a<br />
workshop early if at all possible.<br />
Name Tags and Ribbons<br />
Please wear your name tag at all times during the<br />
conference, as it is your admission to general sessions and<br />
workshops. If you are a voting delegate, you must attend the<br />
Meet the Candidates session and have your voting delegate<br />
ribbon in order to cast your chapter’s vote. Voting delegate<br />
ribbons and chapter award ribbons were placed in the<br />
chapter advisor packets. Recognition ribbons were distributed<br />
to all chapters that qualified for special recognition by<br />
membership or submission of award or other recognition<br />
applications.<br />

Approved by the <strong>State</strong> Executive Council (July 2013)<br />
Members and advisors of Family, Career and Community<br />
Leaders of America are representing an outstanding student<br />
organization and should project the image of a leader. One<br />
of the purposes of <strong>FCCLA</strong> is: “To prepare for the multiple<br />
roles of men and women in today’s society.” Therefore, an<br />
important part of the educational experiences provided by<br />
<strong>FCCLA</strong> includes developing an understanding of appropriate<br />
behavior and dress for business meetings and functions.<br />
Demonstrating a professional image, extending courtesies,<br />
and acting in a professional manner will lead to a pleasant and<br />
rewarding meeting experience. Members, advisors, and guests<br />
should follow the guidelines listed below when attending<br />
<strong>FCCLA</strong> events.<br />
CONFERENCE ATTIRE is<br />
required at the Fall and <strong>State</strong> Leadership<br />
Conferences, state or national <strong>FCCLA</strong><br />
sessions and workshops, exhibits, and<br />
STAR Events recognition. The <strong>FCCLA</strong><br />
official blazer is always appropriate<br />
and strongly encouraged, although<br />
not required (unless otherwise noted).<br />
Athletic shoes (no sandals) are allowed at<br />
the Fall Leadership Conference only.<br />
<strong>State</strong> Officers: The official <strong>FCCLA</strong><br />
uniform is required at regional, state,<br />
and national events, unless otherwise<br />

Eddie Slowikowski<br />
Eddie Slowikowski has always<br />
been a leader willing to go the<br />
extra mile. Once a world-class<br />
runner and now an internationally<br />
known professional speaker,<br />
Eddie has accumulated many<br />
accomplishments over the years and has intentionally<br />
searched to fill his life with service and empowerment for<br />
himself and others.<br />
To name a few of his accomplishments, Eddie was a<br />
3-time division I All American in track and cross country<br />
at Loyola University in Chicago, is a USA Gold Medal<br />
winner at International Competition in London, England,<br />
ran the fasted college indoor mile (3 minutes:58 seconds)<br />
in the nation in 1990, was inducted into Loyola Athletic<br />
Hall of Fame in 1998, and the list goes on. Even after<br />
succeeding in his many accomplishments, Eddie still<br />
sought to enrich his life, as well as others. With a mix<br />
of music, sound effects and amazing dance moves,<br />
Eddie’s presentations are brought to life and make the<br />
experience unforgettable for the audience. He has<br />
personally devised his programs in order to keep his<br />
message up to date for everyone, and he continually<br />
maintains high energy with an interactive style that will<br />
engage the audience throughout the entirety of his<br />
presentation.<br />
