SCHEDULE / SUMMER PLANNING
Schedule Update<br />
• <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Quay</strong> is on track for completion in the Spring of 2015. Major<br />
milestones complete:<br />
• TTC corridor demolition<br />
• Bell Canada infrastructure upgrades/relocation<br />
• Upgraded Enbridge gas plant<br />
• Some construction activities are taking longer than anticipated<br />
• Stage one construction activities (Hydro and site services) are the most<br />
complex of the project<br />
• Hydro was delayed in starting and has experienced additional delays due<br />
to dewatering<br />
• Sanitary sewer work started later than initially planned and crews have<br />
experienced issues with dewatering<br />
• Hydro One repair at York St. may cause additional delays<br />
• Hydro and site services delays impact the schedule for the TTC corridor<br />
rebuild

• <strong>Construction</strong> management is flexible – when some tasks are delayed we<br />
advance other activities to keep the project on schedule<br />
• Changes to summer schedule<br />
TTC Corridor Rebuild<br />
• Work will begin in April and continue during the summer – the streetcar<br />
will not resume service for July and August as planned<br />
• We are advancing work at the Spadina Loop so that all work on the<br />
streetcar corridor will be complete this fall instead of March 2014<br />
• <strong>Construction</strong> staging for TTC rebuild:<br />
• Bay St. to the Peter Slip Bridge – complete in August 2013<br />
• Spadina Loop to Yo Yo Ma – demo begins in April with rebuild<br />
complete in November 2013

• Changes to summer schedule (continued)<br />
North Side Sidewalks and Landscaping Will Begin<br />
• We are advancing work on the new granite sidewalks and trees on the<br />
north side of <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Quay</strong><br />
• This work will begin mid-summer starting and will continue into early 2014<br />
• By September we will start to see granite on <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Quay</strong><br />
• Work on the roadway will follow in early 2014 and will be complete in the<br />
summer

Site Services<br />
• Work on the new watermain at Bay and <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Quay</strong> (April to May) – this<br />
will be complete sooner than originally anticipated<br />
• New storm and sanitary construction will be complete by the end of June<br />
• Hydro has increased the number of crews on <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Quay</strong> and will<br />
continue to work in a number of locations over the summer

• Summer <strong>Construction</strong> Activity in Tourist Areas<br />
• We are working to minimize construction activity in the core summer tourist<br />
zone (York to Rees)<br />
• Key activities in York to Rees zone in July/August:<br />
• Rebuild of the TTC corridor<br />
• Toronto Hydro chamber and lateral work (exact location TBC)<br />
• Our aim is to ensure that these activities have as little impact on area<br />
businesses as possible<br />
• Tour Buses -- new York St. layby and two lanes maintained along the<br />
northside to allow for curbside parking<br />
• Tracking all major events/festivals and coordinating with organizers<br />
• Helping with wayfinding signage, promoting open for business<br />
• Sponsoring <strong>BIA</strong> ambassador program

• TTC Service<br />
• TTC bus service will continue this summer while the streetcar corridor and Spadina<br />
Loop are rebuilt<br />
• The TTC streetcar corridor rebuild will be complete this fall (including the Spadina<br />
Loop)<br />
• The Union Station loop will not be available for passenger loading/unloading<br />
until Spring 2014.<br />
• Due to construction at Union Station, the TTC is currently reviewing how best to<br />
service the waterfront until the loop is available. Options include:<br />
• 509 streetcar service between Ferry Docks and Exhibition with a shuttle<br />
bus into Union Station<br />
• 509 bus service running along <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Quay</strong> (using the newly rebuilt<br />
streetcar corridor)<br />
• 510 streetcar will resume service to the waterfront and will short-turn at the newly<br />
rebuilt Spadina Loop until the Union Station loop is available

• TTC Service (continued)<br />
• Service enhancements to bus service for the summer season:<br />
• In May, buses will run every 3 minutes on Sat/Sun (afternoon peak)<br />
• In June, buses will run every 2-3 minutes on weekdays (AM/PM peak)<br />
• More service for large festivals and events (based on expected riders)<br />
• Customer service/marketing enhancements:<br />
• Improved signage at Union Station<br />
• Name change for bus – 509 Harbourfront (to Exhibition)<br />
• PA announcements about how to get to the waterfront<br />
• Staff at Union Station to direct people during busy periods<br />
• Marketing opportunities (Metro editorial, What’s On flyer, YouTube, etc.)<br />
• Coordination with festivals/events<br />
• Website updates (home page, service advisory, platform video screens)<br />
• E-alerts (reminder about 509 Harbourfront bus service)

GENERAL DISCUSSION
