We run a series of competitive, paid
internships for graduates. We have had
internships at Penguin, Myriad Publishing,
Chawton House Library, a research centre
for 18th Century Women’s Writing, and at
the international journal Short Fiction in
Theory and Practice. We also have
opportunities for students to study abroad
through the Erasmus scheme in Europe, or
through our link with Thompson Rivers
University in British Columbia, Canada.
Our students go on to careers in teaching
(after taking a PGCE), publishing, journalism,
arts event management, university
administration, heritage and tourism,
accountancy, working with charities,
consultancy, teaching English as a foreign
language, and graphic design. Many of our
students choose to continue in higher
education, and we offer programmes at MA
level in Creative Writing, and at PhD level in
Critical Studies, and also in Creative Writing.
