Woody Bassett, ‘70<br />
A lifelong <strong>Fayetteville</strong> resident, Woody Bassett attended the <strong>Fayetteville</strong> <strong>Public</strong><br />
<strong>Schools</strong> and graduated from <strong>Fayetteville</strong> High School in the class <strong>of</strong> 1970. He<br />
received a BA in History from the University <strong>of</strong> Arkansas and his juris doctorate<br />
from the University <strong>of</strong> Arkansas School <strong>of</strong> Law in 1977.<br />
He began his association with the Bassett Law Firm, where he has practiced<br />
law for twenty-nine years, specializing in litigation. During his legal career,<br />
Bassett has been widely recognized and honored for his work as a lawyer and<br />
for his leadership and many contributions to his pr<strong>of</strong>ession. In 2003, he<br />
received the Outstanding Lawyer Award from the Arkansas Bar Association.<br />
Bassett has been equally active in serving his community over the past twentynine<br />
years. He served two terms on the <strong>Fayetteville</strong> City Council and currently<br />
serves on the board <strong>of</strong> directors <strong>of</strong> the Washington Regional Medical<br />
Foundation, Washington Regional Medical System, Life Styles, the United Way<br />
<strong>of</strong> Washington County, and the <strong>Fayetteville</strong> Community Foundation. He has also<br />
served as the chairman <strong>of</strong> the Washington County Democratic Party (1983-88)<br />
and chairman <strong>of</strong> the Washington County Election Commission (1983-88).<br />
He is also active in numerous other community projects and charitable<br />
fundraising groups.
