These actions refer to the attached numbered Task-list.<br />

Holbrook<br />

8 Storage over main toilet block – all items have now been removed. This is no<br />

longer a storage area. Task completed.<br />

14 Trich cleaning in rolling mill – all equipment <strong>and</strong> materials have been removed.<br />

Task completed.<br />

38 Casting department – investigation into the fitting <strong>of</strong> a guard to the in-line<br />

guillotine is still continuing. Action JS.<br />

42 Cutlery department – guard improvement on the Pronging machine still<br />

under investigation. Action JS.<br />

45 Potential safety issue with the automatic gates in the works yard. Awaiting<br />

opportunity to paint warning markings on ground. Action JS.<br />

48 Rolling mill Tea Bar – new facility has now been installed. Task completed.<br />

52 Polishing shops Main Extraction ducting:<br />

1) The ducting was opened at various stages along its length <strong>and</strong> inspections<br />

Made. No build-up <strong>of</strong> polishing compound deposits were evident. Grills at<br />

Polishing-heads were re-installed with instruction given to make sure they<br />

were in-place before any polishing commenced.<br />

2) A mains-water inlet system is now to be fitted within the next 4 weeks.<br />

When this system is installed, MC will issue will issue a Procedure for<br />

tackling any further “fires”. Action JS/MC.<br />

54 Silverware department Goods-lift – all faults rectified. Task completed.


56 From Insurance Inspection report – 3 items <strong>of</strong> equipment still require attention.<br />

Action JS.<br />

71 Press department – attention to power presses as detailed in Inspection reports.<br />

Action JS.<br />

72 Additional Tea Bar facility requested. Action AGH.<br />

Unit 2<br />

6 Material rack safety stoppers to be fitted before next meeting. Action JS.<br />

51 Denibbing shop – replacement dust collector to be installed. Action JS.<br />

59 Spraybooths – blockage in the system was found (old surgical gloves) <strong>and</strong><br />

replacement pump fitted. Task completed.<br />

63 Old hardboard sheets at rear <strong>of</strong> building to be removed. Action JS.<br />

Unit 4<br />

13 Asbestos bearing ro<strong>of</strong> lining has been completely removed. Task completed.<br />

50 Extraction report by Insurance inspectors – investigation still on-going. This<br />

report also involves points raised at Unit 3. Action JS.<br />

62 Boundary fences to be re-erected. Action JS.<br />

70 Attention required to power presses guarding as detailed in inspection report.<br />

Action JS.<br />

Century House<br />

55 Attention to Goods lift. Task completed.<br />

Other Tasks<br />

3 Report now on-h<strong>and</strong> on Air sampling for wood dust at units 2/3/4/5. Investigation<br />

to take place on issues raised. Action JS.<br />

61 Cowens Insurance Brokers report has been discussed <strong>and</strong> points noted. Task<br />

completed.


Special Topics<br />

34 Noise level survey – details <strong>of</strong> new legislation received. Consultation with certain<br />

departments must now take place. Action MC/AGH.<br />

65 First Aid situation at Orgreave – MC reported that we have only one First Aider<br />

to cover all the sites. A new recruit needs to be found. Action JM.<br />

66 MC raised the issue <strong>of</strong> Hot Work Permits – JS confirmed that this system was<br />

operational within the Maintenance dept. Checks will be made to ensure that all<br />

requirements are being meet. Action MC.<br />

67 MC also raised the general issue <strong>of</strong> Permits to Work in Hazardous Situations. It<br />

was agreed to review the situation in 3 months time<br />

68 MC informed the meeting that our Induction <strong>and</strong> Training procedures were not up<br />

to current requirements. A review is required. MC to discuss this review with JW.<br />

69 Fork lift truck regulations – new Code <strong>of</strong> Practice received. MC to process.<br />

73 Accident Reporting book – new procedures to be introduced. All First Aiders will<br />

return an Incident report directly to MC. No report books will be issued in the<br />

future. This should improve the present poor reporting system from certain areas.<br />
