Max Reindl
CEO
and co-founder of Vision for the World e.V.
“If we implement our vision with commitment, we can also convince
others of its worth.” This guiding principle has enabled Max Reindl to
become one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the Nuremberg
metropolitan region.
In 1996, he assembled a team of 12 to form the company WaveLight in
Erlangen, Germany. These highly qualified specialists aimed to speed up the
development of ophthalmic laser technology and make it available for use
worldwide. At the time, many critics viewed this ambition as a pipe dream.
Father of two Max Reindl, who was born in Munich, has repeatedly
demonstrated his determination to see things through. In 1985, he received a
degree certificate in engineering for his work on the optimisation of a nitrogen
laser, and subsequently worked in the field of research and application
development in the medical technology industry. When his employer
announced in 1995 that the company would be relocating to Jena, he decided
that he would prefer to found his own company than leave his home to face an
uncertain future.
But Max Reindl is a realist who has implemented his vision with
determination and remained highly focused on his goals. By the time he left
the stock exchange-listed WaveLight AG in 2009, he was responsible for 250
employees and CEO of the company, which has subsidiaries in the USA,
Spain and France.
WaveLight lasers are used around the world to correct short-sightedness,
long-sightedness and astigmatism. The decision to make an active
contribution to the prevention of blindness was therefore a natural next step
for Max Reindl: in 2002, he founded Vision for the World e.V. together with
Susanne Grethlein.
He is very clear about his task as far as Vision for the World is concerned:
“I will keep the goals of the organisation in sight and set out a clear path for
achieving them. This task has always given me a great deal of pleasure –
not least because we have the right people on board.”
